G15 awards scheme and ceremony
1. G15 Awards Scheme and Ceremony
The project is an Awards Scheme and Ceremony. It is being established to celebrate
students’ success and achievements, those from difficult upbringings or generally deprived
backgrounds, who have managed to overcome these adversities and succeed within any
given field.
The Scheme will begin in June 2010 and The Awards Ceremony will take place in April 2011.
The event aims to attract 11-18 year olds, students, families that are resident in South East
London and across London, Teachers, and local government and national government
officials.
Vision
To successfully launch The G15 Awards Scheme and Ceremony 2011 and to be the UK’s
number one Student Awards Ceremony by 2016.
Mission
To involve Secondary schools, Colleges and High School, initially across South East London,
in the pilot G15 Awards Scheme and Ceremony. To celebrate and encourage success,
academic and social achievements amongst these students and to build working
relationships between local businesses and educational establishments across South East
London, and ultimately, the UK.
My team and I endeavour to use this ceremony to encourage these teenagers to maintain
their positive work and feel appreciated for doing so. We believe that as a successful
business, we are leaders in our community and it is key that we help young people achieve
their full potential and know that they have our full support in doing so.
Background and History
2. The idea for the Awards Ceremony came from the personal experiences of the team
members within education. Many do not feel that enough encouragement is given to
students to take positive steps within education and within their communities. What we
find is that many decide to follow the wrong path because they feel unappreciated, like
their work goes unnoticed. What also tends to happen is that, through their
discouragement, they build negative images and reputations with local businesses. We feel
that it is up to schools, local businesses and communities as a whole to support and value
the good work these youth do. As insignificant as an achievement may seem, a lot of young
people, during their adolescent years, take pride in all their accomplishment and this
Awards Ceremony is our chance to also do this and support these students on their positive
paths
The Awards Scheme and Ceremony is for students in South East London between the ages
11 and 18 in High Schools, Secondary Schools, Colleges and 6th Forms. It will be for
achievements in areas ranging from attendance to care in the community or charity work
and many more.
