This document discusses how the magazine attracted and addressed its audience. [1] The magazine used conventions from other professional magazines in its layout and mise-en-scene to attract the audience. [2] Language, layout, fonts, and models were chosen to communicate with and appeal to the intended young audience. [3] Audience research found the magazine should include topics that appeal to both male and female readers, as well as promote its social media presence to interact with readers.

2. Does your magazine use conventions from other professional magazines that
might help attract an audience? Or does your magazine have a USP?
I have used instances of
conventions from other
magazines here , in the
sense of mise-en-scene,
and layout. My model is
dressed in a similar
fashion to the
professional magazine.
In addition the layout is
similar in terms of the
positioning of sell lines
This might attract the
audience as it allows the
model to be the focal
image of the magazine,
with the model looking
directly at the reader, the
intention is to give it a
personal feel,

3. Did you choose language techniques, layout design, fonts, colours locations,
props, costumes and models and in order to communicate particular ideas to
your audience?
• Language: I used a mixture of formal and colloquial
language in the magazine to identify with the audience.
Communicating to them with their own language is more
likely to appeal to them
• layout: I didn’t use a layout design to convey a particular
idea to the audience, however I based the layout on two
particular music magazines, complex and vibe magazine
• Fonts: I avoided using formal fonts, rather I used bolt fonts
with an edgy feel to get the attention of my young
audience

4. Again consider the audience research you conducted and feedback you got
when it was finished. • The audience research allowed me to
collect information about them which I
could use to determine how best I
might go about attracting them.
• For example , even though more
females responded to the magazine,
more men actually liked hip-hop, this
influenced me to include items like Dre
beats headphones whilst including
fashion tips for out substantial female
audience.
Having a presence on a social network
was a must for my magazine due to the
large umber of respondents who used
it. It would act as another way to
interact with readers and sustain their
interest. I used this information to
include the social networking logo’s on
my front cover to inform the readers of
how they can stay connected.
