3. Understand that this is a college level course and that the teacher will
expect a lot from you.
But don’t worry...
You’re already using the skills it takes to succeed; AP challenges you
to take them to new levels.
4. When the going gets tough, the tough get going
You might think that AP classes are tough, and you might be right. But that doesn’t mean that
you aren’t up to the task. If you are willing to work hard, you'll find that the qualities you use
in other parts of your life can help you achieve your goals. AP brings the college experience
to your high school with the opportunity to earn college credit at thousands of universities.
More students are ready for AP than you’d think. Roll up your sleeves and find out what AP
can do for you.
5. Challenges
In AP classes, just like in
college, you’ll face new
challenges and learn
new skills in the subjects
7. Don’t Procrastinate
The reality of many AP courses is that they’re intentionally difficult. After all, these are
classes taught at a college level that will hopefully earn you college credit.
With the higher degree of difficulty associated with AP classes, it’s important to have a good
grasp on how to manage your time. Never let yourself get too far behind.
Complete your work each day.
AP courses are fast-paced, and you may be unable to catch up if you do not remain current
with your work.
Give yourself more time than you think you’ll need to complete your work initially to make
sure you’re allowing yourself enough wiggle room to fully understand and finish everything
that’s assigned.
8. Self Motivated
Since this class is being delivered online it is important for you to be self motivated
and be able to complete independent study.
AP classes require a lot of self-learning, therefore it will be extremely helpful if you
go home and review your notes, re-read the textbook, and re-watch the online
presentations.
It may also be necessary for you to complete work from home at night, over the
weekend, and on days off from school.
Study for all tests
How much you get out of an AP class depends on how much you put into it,
especially when it comes to completing work on your own time.
10. PERSEVERE
Even if this class seems
overwhelming DON’T GIVE UP!
Students need to learn that in life,
most things of value require
effort. The payoff for becoming a
good AP student is that you will
become a GOOD STUDENT!
And that is the best reward of all!
