Health link cards were distributed
among 1616 construction workers.
The ‘Summer School Pro-
gramme’ celebrated creativity
among children aged 6 years
and above across all daycare
centres. 832 students partici-
pated in themed song, poetry,
dance, drawing, and crafts.
In June ‘14, children from all
daycare centers were taken
for Excursions to the Nehru
Tara Mandal & Nehru Museum.
400 children, 27 community
members, and 28 staff mem-
bers were awed by galaxy
displays and later captured
their experiences with artistic
expression.
During the quarter, 9
street plays were orga-
nized to communicate
importance of Crèche
and Early Childhood
health, nutrition and hygiene.
Reinforcement by regular fol-
low-ups has sensitized 1355
community members.
Health Camps at 5 centres
reached out to 1151 commu-
nity members, administering
general check-ups and eye
exams.
Financial literacy meetings
were conducted in 5 centres
which included information on
household saving and budget-
ing. 4 community members
opened bank accounts with
SBI designated Grahak Seva
Kendra executives.
21 community leaders, repre-
senting 5 sites, attended an
orientation and sensitization
meeting to build better aware-
ness of early childhood issues.
Leaders reported active par-
ticipation in meetings, pro-
grammes, and assisting com-
munity members in reaching
out to PHCs.
Mother’s Meetings, Facilitation
Worker Training, and Capacity
Building Workshops were orga-
nized as per usual.
FRIEND RAISING AND FUND RAISING
ISSUE 51, APRIL—JUNE 2014
Armaan, was one of the 4881 children reached
in last quarter. Weighed 5.5 kgs in 20 months
and was severely malnourished. Initially, the
child was linked to GTB hospital, for checkup
and medication; however, the situation did not
improve substantially. Mobile Creches staff
suggested the family to take care of the child
and feed him with special diet like Daliya, Khi-
chdi, Sooji ka Kheer, boiled egg etc. Mean-
while, Mobile Creches contacted Nutritional
Rehabilitation Centers at Hindu Rao hospital to
get special attention for curbing the malnutri-
tion. He was admitted and received proper
diet, medicines and massage. With the inter-
vention, child’s weight has improved to 9.5 Kgs
and he is leading a normal healthy life.
At Mobile Creches, we experience everyday
the national shame of malnutrition in India.
Balanced diet is fundamen-
tal for a healthy human
being, especially for the
proper development of
children.
