Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale Hosts 16th
Annual Riverwalk Run
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (March 2, 2016) – The Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale’s 16th
Annual Riverwalk Run was a successful community event which helped raise awareness and funds
for several community initiatives. These funds will directly impact many of the Junior League of
Greater Fort Lauderdale’s existing projects including human trafficking awareness and Childhood
Fitness and Nutrition-Kids in the Kitchen and Healthfully Ever After, as well as numerous done-in-a-
day projects benefiting other non-profits, children and families in Broward County.
The 16th
Annual Riverwalk Run led runners and walkers on a 5K and 5-mile course through the heart
of Rio Vista. The route started at Huizenga Plaza on Las Olas Boulevard, ran along the bank of the
New River, wandered through the tree-lined neighborhood streets of Rio Vista, cut through Smoker
Park and finished on the signature brick path of the Riverwalk. The event also featured a 40-yard
dash Kids’ Fun Run, lined with parents and volunteers to guide kids along the course. Post-race
festivities included a hearty brunch and activities for the kids.
This year's events kicked off with the Riverwalk Race Party at Shooters Waterfront premier event
space, Events by Grateful Palate. Over 200 attendees spent the night shopping one-of-a-kind silent
auction items, enjoying passed hors d'oeuvres and sipping on specialty cocktails. The nautical-
themed event raised over $19,000 which will directly support the Junior League of Greater Fort
Lauderdale’s charitable projects.
