purposes.

Textile materials or non-textile materials are mainly
used to make garments trimming. But they should be
selected carefully to get desire performance from them.
The important qualities of trimming are given below:
ď‚•A.Life time
If the trimmings become fade or break then garment will
not be wearable. So life time of trims should be equal
to garments.
9. Cont…..
ď‚•Shrinkage
ď‚•If trims become shrinkage by washing or ironing as a
result appearance of the garment may be hampered.
And ultimately garment will not be wearable. So the
shrink ability of the fabric and the trimming should be
checked earlier.
ď‚•C. Color fastness
ď‚•Colorfastness is very important for trimming. If
fastness become poor then garment will be also poor
appearance. The color of trimming should not be
faded due to washing or exposure to sunlight.
10. Cont…….
ď‚•Rust
ď‚•The trimmings which are made from metal,
then material should become rust free. If
rusting occurs they will create spot on
garment. So before using in garments then
obviously check that is electroplated.
ď‚•E. Comfort ability
ď‚•Trimming should become hygienic and
obviously comfortable.
11. Sewing Thread
Swing threads are made by yarn multiplying
because it should have sufficient strength
to absorb tension during swingoperation.
12. Interlining
Interlining: Interlining is one kind of
accessories that is used between the two
layers of fabric in a garment. To keep the
different component or part of apparel in a
desired shape & strength a kind of fabric is
used between the two ply of fabric by
swing orfusing is called interlining.
13. Lining
Lining: These are extra fabric (generally
smooth & lustrous made of silk or
manufactured fiber or cotton) used in inner
face of body fabric at garments to provide
extra protection. Ex. Lining of blazer&coat.

1st button diameter is measure through slide calipers & converted
in to ligne.
21. Button Types
a) Basic Types:
1) Flat Buttons: The most common buttons are fairly flat,
with 2 or 4holes in the centre. they’re easy to attach to
hand knits by sewing a fine yarn or sewing thread though
the holes. there is an enormous amount of choice
available, from plain plastic through wood, metal and
glass buttons to hand-crafted ceramic ones.
2) Shank Buttons: Shank buttons have a hollow loop on the
back through which thread is sewn to attach the button to
the fabric, while sew-through, or flat, buttons have either
two or four holes through which the thread is sewn.
22. Cont……
b) According to material used:
i) plastic button: made of polyester, polyamide,
polyacrylonitrile etc, cheap, not glossy and widely used in
shirts.

1. 2 hole button. 2. 4 hole button.
23. Some Important Differences
1.Yarn & Thread: Yarns are single plied where
as Threads are multi plied for strength. So
Yarns are weaker than threads. Yarns are
made by fiber & Threads are made by yarn.
Yarns are used for knitting/weaving & threads
are used for swing at garments.
2.Zipper & chain: Zipper is the part of chain
where chain is the continuous integration of
zipper.
