Michael Rice provided Dornier Medtech
with professional Project Management
services from various ‘preliminary vision
/ scheme concepts’ to the fully organized
step-by-step process of a full renovation.
The existing Dornier footprint was
approximately 24,000 RSF of office front-end spaces with an attached 11,000 RSF
warehouse. The scope of the project was a five phase design build renovation of the
occupied office space and related work place amenities. In step one, Rice gained Client
approval of a full ‘fresh-looking’ design palette with upgraded finishes and specifications
of replacement materials against a budget focused tenant improvement allowance.
Teaming with the selected general contractor, B.J. Gunter, all steps of the schedule
were continuously balanced upon minimum stress on Dornier’s staff, and efficiently
monitoring engineering and build-out components. Within the methodical process,
Rice coordinated with Gunter’s Construction Manager and sub-contractor teams
replacing all floorcoverings, wall finishes, updates to lighting fixtures, some required
HVAC improvements, and selected new furnishings, as well as the refurbishment of
150 file and storage unit cabinets. Some highlights of the new work environment
are a new Reception Area, an updated Presentation/Conference Room, a complete
new Breakroom with adjoining staff lounge, enhancements to the staff patio area,
focused technology and AV items for the Training Room areas, and fully upgraded
restrooms. Towards the end of the project with ‘budget savings’, Rice worked with
A-R-T & Associates developing a corporate art program and created a ‘Dornier History
Wall’ incorporating the Client’s archival photos.

•	 New tailored pattern broadloom carpet and vinyl flooring installed in meeting areas.
•	 Provided a new ‘art program’ of bold colors accenting the workplace.
