Ballast Control Operator
Ballast and de-ballast the rig as required to maintain station. Supervise all ballast controls and related
instrumentation. Monitor variable deck load daily to calculate and maintain rig stability; devise
corresponding reports that detail stability information. Manage expendables inventory and supervise all
transfers of fuel, potable/drill water, cement, barite and benonit; report findings to the Barge
Engineer/Supervisor including any anomalies that may affect rig operations or compromise safety.
Conduct daily rounds to check on equipment and measure rig loads.
Carry out Preventive Maintenance on pumps, compressors, instrumentation and lifesaving
equipment as required to ensure safety and extend life of items
Monitor weather conditions to determine rig motion and issue safe work permits
Aid the Barge Engineer/ Supervisor in carrying out rig move plans, anchoring handling boats and
performing mobilization and demobilization of preparations; completed all without incident thus
far during tenure with company
Handle weekly and monthly payroll processes; also administer the Permit to Work system
Evaluate radio communications and coordinate helicopter/work boat traffic; also observe
controls, instrumentation and equipment and make adjustments according to conditions to
ensure a stable work platform for drill and marine personnel
Facilitate smooth and seamless communication with incoming helicopters, crew/supply barges
and crane operators during loading and offloading processes
