Supervisor: Marsha Salee (812-465-7098)
Storeroom Clerk, Physical Plant/Supplies Services
My daily routine for which I was trained starts out each day by opening all the appliance cages so that HVAC techs
can get into the cages so they can get units to work on. I then check e-mails from my supervisor seeing if anyone has
taken parts out during after-hours so that I can adjust inventory and issue parts to a work order. I then pull out
receipts from the previous day that need to be entered into our computer system and enter them along with assigning
part numbers. I print off tickets (bar-codes) to put parts in stock or place parts with a work order that is to be
expedited immediately. I make sure all work orders that I have with outstanding parts/labor/purchases on them are
updated daily and upon completion, I enter them into our database system and then send them down to accounting to
have them verify charges. I check daily to see if there are any parts that need to be picked up or ordered from local
vendors as well as check to see if there have been any deliveries made to our department. If deliveries have been
made, I pull packing slips/receipts, I scan the bar code, disburse invoice/packing slip to proper department, store
shipment within our inventory unless it has been purchased for immediate use and I deliver it to the area needed. I
receive completed work orders each day that I have to compile and enter into our department’s database so that
2. historical records can be kept on the work completed, area completed in, items used, etc. Also, I have been elevated
with responsibilities that only supervisory employees of USI have within my area of Physical Plant/Support Services.
Among those duties I have been given a credit card for purchasing supplies for my department. Because my
supervisor considers me a trustworthy individual, I have been given this additional responsibility which I take very
seriously. With this responsibility I must, each week, reconcile my credit card purchases and turn them in to the
accounts payable department: another responsibility that has been given me because of my dependability and
conscientiousness is that I have been given keyed access to the storeroom and all doors/gates inside at USI. I also
have keys to other buildings on campus. Due to the fact that I have keys, I am responsible for the care and handling
of these trusted keys and have to complete a key roster daily when using keys to various areas. I complete a check-
off list daily of areas when opened and closed. I have already completed one audit since I started my job to insure the
accuracy and proper locations of keys. All of this is done while periodically being stopped to go get a part or tool for a
worker or leaving to pick up parts or tools from a vendor and then returning and completing the necessary paperwork
and data-entry. Every week I create an Excel spreadsheet of what inventory has been received in and run a report via
our database system so we can have a hard copy (these used to be all hand written until I started an Excel
spreadsheet which added to the efficiency of work as well as it is less time consuming to read printed material verses
handwritten material). Once a month I reconcile my supervisor’s credit card purchases and my own credit card
purchases so that each transaction shows exactly what was bought, where it went, what work order it was assigned
to or which department it was used in. This is then forwarded to accounting so they can verify charges and charge
backs. I also periodically run my own audits on inventory to make sure my counts are correct as the university is
audited annually in June. Daily I prioritize the work orders and see that materials to complete orders are distributed
from inventory for a particular job/task. During the day I may have to research ordering material not available from
inventory and this may require ordering it from a vendor we have contracted, and if not, then researched & calling of
an outside vendor to purchase the needed item. I supervise two student workers daily, fill in during supervisor’s
absence, complete inventories of parts & equipment daily and due annual audits, keep controlled key inventory,
answer telephone and fm radio, go pick up parts & equipment and deliver them in different areas of the university.
When necessary I place orders for materials to be purchased for products to have stock for future use. I continually
keep files on inventory, projects, purchases placed & received, etc. I maintain a daily inventory of all parts &
equipment both physically and digitally, and I keep a bill of materials for all jobs so that I have access to previous
information when we have a similar problem or issue within the physical plant making it easier to fix the situation in a
timely fashion. I use Teamwork’s database (USI database program) to enter all daily information to purchase items
for the first time, research & provide supervisor with cost estimates for tasks/jobs. I am familiar and keep Material
Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on all materials used and have them accessible both in a manual form and digitally
scanned in our computer system. I provide assistance to 40+ employees with over 90,000 parts by responding
quickly and positively to work orders, tasks and jobs. I recently completed an audit of our inventory for the storeroom
and had to reconcile and investigate discrepancies from the prior worker whom had left the full time position. I am
aware of how important it is to accurately report inventory and numbers to avoid transposing of numbers which can
lead to in accuracy being compromised and also not being able to find the proper item. I am responsible for ordering,
receiving, delivery and pick up of inventory, scanning bar-coded materials, and data entry of such items. Being
employed at a college, I have to adhere to regulations and policies set forth by the university as well as government
regulations. I have been issued personal protective equipment/gear and must use it when necessitated. I work in
varied environments such as small confined spaces, inclement weather, on scaffolding and watch my work
environment and dangers that are present. I am physically fit and can stand, sit, and lift well. I have been in areas that
are sometimes infested with rodents or bugs and adapt well. I can be respirator fit if need be. I follow guidelines
presented me and I follow through to completion. Various shifts do not bother me and I am trustworthy, dependable,
have a good work ethic and I am personable. I work independently or can be a team player based on the situation
and circumstances. I have also received training and certification to operate a forklift/mule in my present position.
(**Prior to this full time employment with USI, I also spent one year as a student worker for the Physical Plant
as a storeroom clerk and two summers as a Summer Rehab Employee working on the upkeep of the
university apartments in which I stripped and waxed floors.)

HONORS & AWARDS: NDHS-Top 10 Academic (2005-2009); Recipient of following scholarships: Dwight
Risley/2009, Knights of Pythias/2009, USA Bank/2009, USI Athletic/2009-2014, and Larry R. Arp/2010, Wendy’s
Heisman High School recipient, Indiana Assoc. of Track & Cross Country Coaches All State Team (2005-2009);
Freshman of the Year Cross Country-Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference/2005 & Great Lakes Valley
Conference/2009. I have competed in six National College Athletic Associations (NCAA) Cross Country and Track &
Field National Championships for Division II. I hold many honors in both high school and collegiate running events.
LEADERSHIP: During college, I was asked to be a liaison for all incoming male athletes for the Cross Country and
Track & Field teams. I would meet with the coach who would introduce me to the athlete that would be coming for
the weekend or an overnight stay. The incoming freshman prospect would then go with me so that I could introduce
him to over training facility (PAC), various types of housing, our campus, bookstore & loft (eating area on campus)
which enabled the incoming prospective athlete a chance to see what his life would be like if he became a USI
Screaming Eagle team member. Also, I was asked to drive one of our USI vans during away meets. I had the
responsibility of insuring the safety of at least 10 team members who would ride in the USI van that I was driving.
Also do to the fact that I participated in 6 NCAA Championship, often my running ability and technique for the
steeplechase was often imitated or I would help train individuals to use my style which had proven exceptional in our
division II meets and championships. During my high school years I provided leadership as a team captain during
my junior & senior years in both cross country and track & field. I also was an assistant for junior high teams during
my high school years. I also was a referee for two years for the North Daviess Soccer League. I feel one reason I
often am called on for a leadership position is because I was the youngest of three siblings with one being 15 years
older and the other 8 years older than myself and I became more mature than others my age.
ACTIVITIES: I am a member of Salem United Church of Christ as well as a part-time operator for the sound system
on Sundays. I have organized a 5K run for a cancer victim at our church in which I worked with time-keeping, course
set-up, registration, prizes and awards, receipts of monies, promotion of event and statistics of the race. I have
participated & volunteered in many Vanderburgh, Martin, Daviess and Knox counties (Indiana) 5K runs.
