1. Those Tiny Umbrellas
It was a cold morning. I woke up when my face was caressed by the water droplets carried by
the cold breeze, blew against my window. I saw the beautiful ceiling of my room painted using
many different colours. I always wanted happiness to be around me and so I touched
everything with the hue in my fingers. It was a special day for me because it was the day my
mother promised that she would come to visit me. I bounced out of my bed when her thought
struck my mind and started dressing myself up. I was worried about one fact that I did not have
money to buy something, to gift her. I rushed into my garden to pluck some flowers to present
her. I knew that would make her happy for she is one person who was fond of flowers. I
decided to gift a bunch of yellow roses that were smiling at me, welcoming me. I went close to
2. it and when I was about to pluck them, I saw something very strange but beautiful. They were
so tiny that I couldn’t identify what they were. I came closer and viewed at them, carefully.
Wow! They looked like tiny umbrellas. Yes, they were tiny mushrooms. The yellow roses
became gloomy, when I turned my attention away from them. I consoled them stating, “Don’t
worry my dear ones, I will give an opportunity to you sometime later.” I glared at those tiny
ones again and told them to forgive me if I was to hurt. I knew it would hurt them if I plucked
them and so I plant them in a pot, without disturbing them. It was time for my mother to arrive.
I waited patiently and when she arrived I presented her those tiny mushrooms which were
planted in a pot. She held the pot, gazed at those tiny little umbrellas, smiled with dewy-eyes
and read out the message in the paper that was pasted down the pot, “Mother, I might be tiny
like these mushrooms, but my heart is like these little umbrellas that wish to protect you
knowing that it is impossible. I love you”.
