4. A note from your Counselors
regarding Social Media:
You can’t even imagine how often we deal with the
results of someone’s poor decisions on Social Media.
We just want to remind you of a few things.
5. FACT--Most of you will not marry the person you are
dating right now. Sad but true!
So if you even think it’s a good idea or are feeling
pressured to send a “private” picture to your boy or
girl friend just remember that this picture never goes
away. It can come back to haunt you for the rest of
your life. You may fully trust this person and believe
that they will delete it, but chances are they will not
delete it and they will more than likely show it to
other people.
6. Just pay attention to the news for a few minutes and
you will know that what we are saying is true.

Sexting. Yes, sending a “private” photo is SEXTING.
It is also a felony offense!

inappropriate activities on social media.
People lose jobs for inappropriate posts/tweets.
People even go to jail for this stuff!

35. When on a social network
• Only post things you wouldn’t mind an adult
seeing.
• Make sure you have a trusted adult as a “friend” or
as a “follower.”
• This will remind you to be on your best online
behavior!
Think about the content on your social media sites.
Would you want your grandma, coach, pastor,
teacher, sister/brother, mom/dad, or uncle/aunt to
see what you have posted?

on a dare, but teachers, parents, potential
employers, college recruiters, coaches, friends and
enemies can find your past posts forever.

Want To Do (even Online)- 40% of teen girls say they post
sexually explicit images because of "peer pressure". Take
control of your own actions and say "No."
43. Think before you send
• What Will the Person Who Receives the Post
Think - You might mean something to be a joke or
funny, but you never know how someone will
interpret the post. Consider the impression you are
leaving. Could this ruin your reputation?
44. Think before you send
You Are Not Anonymous- 20% of the teens who post
sexually suggestive images do so to people they only know
online. Remember that someone can find your email,
phone number and address if they try hard enough.
