5. BIOSPHERE
• Part of the land, sea and atmosphere which organism
may live
• Part of the Earth that has living organism
• Irregularly shaped, relatively thin zone in which life
is concentrated on.
• It is the sum total of the living organism
• Ecology is the field of biology that studies the
interaction of the of the biosphere with the other
sphere of the planet
6. HYDROSPHERE
• The liquid component of the Earth
• Covers around 70% of the surface
of the Earth
• Home of some of the plants and
animals
• Hydrology is the scientific study of
water
• What are the examples of
hydrosphere?
10. • Troposphere – the lowest part of the atmosphere
--it contains most of our weather – clouds, rain and snow
- it contains the 755 of all the air in the atmosphere and almost all the water vapor
--The lowest part of the troposphere is the boundary level, it is where the air motion is
determined
The top of the troposphere is the tropopause, about 7-10 kilometers above the
surface of the Earth
Stratosphere – contains the ozone in the atmosphere
- it increases in temperature in height because of absorption of UV radiation from the
sun.
- temperature is higher in the Summer pole and lowest over in the winter
11. • Mesosphere – the temperature decreases with height reaching a minimum
of 90 degrees Celsius
• - the layers in which the meteor burn up after entering Earth’s
atmosphere
• In geology, the mesosphere refers to the part of the Earth’s mant
14. CELESTIAL SPACE
• - Large space surrounding the Earth which could be used as a reference to where the celestial
bodies lie in the sky.
• A. North celestial space – is the point in the sky about which all the stars seen from the
northern hemisphere
• B. South celestial space – is the point in the sky about which all the stars seen from the
northern hemisphere
EARTH’S AND OTHER PLANET’S MOTION
The spinning motion of the Earth is called Earth Rotation
a. Diurnal Motion- daily motion of the stars and other celestial bodies across the sky
b. Annual Motion – reflects the Earth's orbit around the sun
c. Retrograde Motion- apparent motion of the Planet in a direction opposite to that of the
other bodies including the planets, sun, moon and star
