The document discusses the concept of ego from psychological and social perspectives. It defines ego as a matter of pride rather than self-respect, referring to Freud's theory that the ego is the component of personality representing conscious decision making. The document contrasts healthy self-esteem with ego, using examples to show how ego can motivate impulsive or attention-seeking behaviors when one's pride is threatened. It argues both men and women can be egoistic but in different ways, and concludes by offering steps for reducing ego like listening, analyzing before speaking, admitting mistakes, and prioritizing self-respect over pride.
2. Ego is defined as someone's self-esteem or self-respect.
But we define ego as a matter of pride.
For us ego isn’t our respect but is our pride.
The pride that if is shaken even a bit, we come down to burn the
entire world down.
And ask, “ How the hell did you even try to hurt my ego ? “
3. According to Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory, there are
three parts to the personality: the ego, the id and the superego.
The ego is the psychological component of the personality that
is represented by our conscious decision-making process. The id
is the instinctual, biological component , and the superego is the
social component of our personality and conscience . Our
behavior is determined by the interaction of these three
components.
4. You’re sitting with your friends and one of them criticizes the
way you eat. Maybe they’re saying that so you can improve your
way of eating for your betterment so you’d not be embarrassed
in front of anyone, but you take it negatively and act impulsive
by leaving the room or insulting them. That’s where you show
your ego, this isn’t your self-esteem, this is your pride that
you’re naming to be your self-respect.
5. Many people argue that guys have more ego than girls. Yes, it is
true guys do have more ego than girls but not as much people
say, if guys are a 10 in ego, girls are a 9.
If a guy is told that he isn’t good enough or is abused he’d fight
you but what girls do is more pathetic and funny actually.
When a girl's ego is hurt she’d go to another girl and abuse you
to make her ego come back to the level from where it fell.
6. Egoistic people have only one thing in themselves, pride. They’re
also attention seekers because to boost their egos up they’ll do
stuff in order to prove how great they are and gain attention.
These people just love showing off their abilities, and how
they’re so amazing. Egoistic people aren’t apologizers in most
cases, they have this mental issue that if they’d apologize, their
pride would reach its demise which is huge issue for them off
course. And let me tell you, you’re lucky if a person full of this so
called self-respect is apologizing from you, putting their ego
aside.
7. If you’re an egoistic person and want to get rid of it. Follow the given
steps:
Try to understand the other person’s talk.
Listen, analyze and than open your mouth to speak.
Use your brain.
Grow up and stop acting like a kid that when someone is trying
to guide you to the right path, you think they’re insulting you and
in turn insult them.
Stop making small issues as huge as mountains.
Let go and move on.
Learn to apologize when it’s your mistake.
Cut the pride off and create some real self-respect for yourself.
