With regard to 1 weeks work experience 21st – 25th February 2011
Megan completed a week’s work experience in the Accessories & Lingerie design department of Debenhams
Retail PLC.
Megan has a mature and organised approach to work. She took on the tasks to which she was assigned with
an enthusiastic attitude, and completed them promptly and professionally. One of the main tasks that week
was to summarize the Designers@Debenhams catwalk shows into individual easy-to-view pages of images.
Megan was quickly shown how to use Adobe Photoshop and after asking a few key questions, she got on with
the job at hand without needing any additional assistance. She selected key looks, zoomed in on key prints/
details/accessories and produced informative summary pages using her own judgement and self motivation.
Along with a title page, the Designers@Debenhams catwalk pages that Megan put together, were distributed
as a pack to the senior executives.
The other main task was to create a printable version of the Accessories SS12 colour palette – this meant
creating an empty palette template in Photoshop and typing in the names of each colour. Megan was then the
first person to use a new colour system that we have just introduced – typing in the RGB code, naming each
colour, and saving the whole palette as a usable swatch file for designers to use in Photoshop and Illustrator.
This has been an extremely useful tool, especially because Megan matched the colours so accurately.
In addition there were basic tasks such as filing colour swatches and cutting up colour standards that Megan
was happy to complete with the same speed and attention to detail as the other, more interesting projects.
I was impressed with Megan’s friendly and positive attitude and she stood out as an especially strong
candidate among the many work experience people we work with each season.
Yours sincerely,
Katie Stagles
