Preliminary Evaluation
By Brad Dimberline
Highlighting success
• The factors I believe I did well in my preliminary are that first of all I tried to involve
different variation of fonts to improve the aesthetics of what I am producing.
Learning more than just the basics on using tools to help me add in more
advanced software for my main task was a key part of my successes during the
time of producing my preliminary task because then when it does come to doing
my main task, I am not totally lost when it comes to giving some more in depth
detail. Having used different colours, I believe that this made my preliminary less
tedious to look at. Which hi will need to carry onto my main task. The task was
completed to a decent standard as well. I didn’t need extra support sessions to get
used to producing things on InDesign which is a positive sign.
Areas for improvement
• First of all the area I could most do with
improving is the fact that the technology I used
wasn’t that advanced so I could watch some
YouTube tutorials to help me with the tools
available. Also, The colours I used didn’t go
together that well so I could Google what colours
go together well to make the product more
aesthetically-pleasing to the eye. Compared to
other magazines I've analysed, I think I used too
many sub-titles which wouldn’t be very engaging
to potential customers.
What I've learnt
• I've learnt that the colours will need to go together to
make the contents page look more aesthetically-pleasing.
I will need to Google what colours go
together to make the contents page look better.
• I've also learnt how to use some different tools to
make my main task look more professional but I still
have room to learn more of the features.
• Also, I found out how to change the fonts that arent
involved in the program for more of a choice when it
comes to how the words im using and how they fit the
magazine’s mood.
To what extent have you met the brief
I believe that I met the brief as for the
preliminary, we only had to complete it and
mess around with tools to get used to how we
work InDesign and use different colours to
create a bit of design to step into the right
direction when preparing for the main task.
