Volunteer Service
Blessing Baskets
- This is a program that Cross Church of Springdale does every
Thanksgiving. People come from all over Arkansas and surrounding states
to get the bags full of groceries and poultry put together by the church’s
volunteers.
- I participated in this once a year for three years; approximately 10 hours
of service altogether.
Trip to the Yucatan Peninsula
- I traveled to Mexico with a group of my peers for around 8 days.
- My group helped build, clean, and refurbish churches in the poor, inner
city parts of Cancun.
- We worked with children and families and helped set up events for them.
- We helped local pastors with whatever they felt the community needed.

2. Work Experience
Wasabi (2014-present)
- I began as a host and am currently a server at a popular restaurant near
my school’s campus.
- This fast paced job has helped me to learn multitasking skills and to think
quickly in pressured situations.
- Working in an environment where my job is to ensure that the customer
leaves happy and will return to the restaurant has improved my customer
service, conflict resolution, and communication skills greatly over the past
two years.
Relevant Courses and Clubs
Advertising Club
- We hear from guest speakers in our field, work on campaigns, and tour
advertising agencies.
Media Technology
- An elective that teaches students to use Photoshop and Illustrator for
future use in advertising or public relations careers.
Basic Video Editing
- An elective that is focused on the basics of shooting and editing short
videos and commercials for future use in advertising or public relations
careers.
Advertising Principles
- A course that teaches the basics of the advertising industry.
Business Application Knowledge- Computer Competency
- A course designed for business majors that is focused on improving
basic computer skills and teaches students to use the Microsoft
applications Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Office.
