2. NEP 2020
• NEP – National Education Policy
• NEP is India’s third education policy after NEP 1968 and
1986.
• Ministry of Human Resource Development formed a
committee in 2017 which was headed by Dr. K.
Kasturirangan for preparing the National Education Policy.
• The committee submitted its report on May 31, 2019 and
on July 29, 2020 union cabinet approved it.
• So after a long 34 years of gap our education policy
changed in 2020.

3. Main Reforms in NEP 2020
• 10+2 system has been dropped.
• 10+2 has been changed to 5+3+3+4 system of
schooling.
• 5+3+3+4 system has been divided into 4 stages.

5. Foundational Stage
• It is of 5 years duration.
• It included 3 years of pre-school and Class 1 and Class
2.
• Age group is 3 to 8 years.

6. Preparatory Stage
• It is of 3 years duration.
• It includes class 3, class 4 and class 5.
• Age group is 8 to 11 years.

7. Middle School Stage
• It is of 3 years duration.
• It includes class 6, class 7 and class 8.
• Age group is 11 to 14 years.
• Computer coding will be taught to the students from
class 6 onwards.
• As a result they will learn to develop software and
applications from their early stage.
• That’s really amazing.

8. Internship or Practical Experience
• From class 6th, if any student wants to take practical
experience in their field of interest like painting,
computer coding etc. they can take training from
experts during the period of their schooling.

9. High School Stage
• It is of 4 years duration.
• It includes class 9, class 10, class 11 and class 12.
• Age group is 14 to 18 years.
• It will have semester system of examination.

10. 360° Assessment Report Card
• In the report card, the result of not only quantitative
assessment but also qualitative assessment of the
students will be recorded.

11. No Stream System
• A student can opt for any subject of any stream of
his/her interest.
• For example, he/she can take a combination of
accounts, history and physics.

12. 4 Years Bachelor Degree Course
• Multiple Entry and Exit
• On the exit after doing 1 year course, student will get
a “Course Certificate”.
• On the exit after doing 2 year course, student will get
a “Diploma Certificate”.
• On the exit after doing 3 year course, student will get
a “Bachelor Degree Certificate”.
• On the completion of full course, student will get a
“Bachelor Degree along with Research Certificate”.

14. Credit Transfer
• ABC (Academic Bank of Credits) shall be established
which would digitally store the academic credits
earned.
• Credit transfer of prior learning represented in terms
of course credits.
