First publication ever was called the
German Erbauliche Monaths
Unterredungen, which was released in
1663.
after it was launched several others with
very similar topics published magazines.
At the time these were intended for an
intellectual audience.
mainly written by one author.
A publication similar to today’s magazines
appeared in the year 1672, when French
author Jean Donneau deVize created Le
Mercure Galant. It combines things from
court events, theater and literature.
This concept was copied throughout
Europe
The first women’s magazine, Ladies'
Mercury, was launched in London in the
year 1693.

The name magazine, which
comes from the Arabic or
French word which means the
warehouse or storehouse, and
was used for describing the
place which deposits large
quantity of various goods.
Certain information was seen
as ‘goods’ so people decided to
note this info on paper and
copy it and hand it out to
people to inform them of
what’s going on.
