1. Educating Today’s Students for Tomorrow’s World
Broward County Public Schools Is An Equal Opportunity/Equal Access Employer
December 16, 2015
Dear Sir/Madam:
I have had the pleasure of both working with and supervising Laci Cedeno at South Broward High School for close
to a decade. Knowing Laci in both capacities allows me to whole-heartedly endorse her for your institution, as I
know she would be an asset to any school.
As a colleague, I had come to know Mrs. Cedeno as bright, witty, helpful, and kind. Students would describe her as
a kind, encouraging, and motivating force. As a colleague, Laci was recognized as a master in her field and would
often lend support to other teachers, including those in other departments. Laci collaborated with Biology teachers
with whom she shared students to incorporate material from that course into her own because she noticed that a
majority of her students were having difficulty with the vocabulary in that subject area. In this way and more, she
was a remarkable resource within the school.
As an administrator, I was able to supervise Mrs. Cedeno’s work with colleagues. Because of her demonstrated
leadership roles within the department, Mrs. Cedeno was a Professional Learning Community leader for several
years. I worked closely with her in this capacity and knew her to be extremely competent and organized. Mrs.
Cedeno is a person of integrity and is passionate about results. For these reasons, she was asked by administration to
write the curriculum for both tenth and twelfth grade, as well as present it to new staff members. Because of her
pedagogical expertise, Laci was also chosen by administration to be a coach for the New Educator Support System
(NESS), and works with teachers new to the profession to hone their skills.
I have also witnessed Laci’s compassion for students outside of the classroom. As the National Honor Society
advisor, Laci volunteered many hours to assist in coordinating the Harvest Drive. This is a school-wide project that
aims to provide families within the community a Thanksgiving meal and grocery items for a week. As one of the
point people, Laci and NHS helped the school to feed over 100 families.
Laci Cedeno is highly respected by her co-workers for her willingness to help, as well as her mastery of English and
the Language Arts. Her students respect her because of her intelligence, as well as her genuine and caring nature. I
highly recommend Laci for your school.
Sincerely,
Vera Perkovic
