This document discusses racial profiling issues faced by white mainlanders in Hawaii. It covers struggles finding employment due to preference given to locals, as well as safety issues in school systems where white students face harassment and violence on occasions like "Kill Haole Day." Specific anecdotes describe challenges obtaining jobs without local connections, as well as experiences of violence against white individuals in schools and on beaches. The document argues that racial profiling and lack of acceptance of mainlanders in Hawaii is a serious problem that requires addressing to promote greater inclusion.
6. “I found myself working the WORST job of my
life. You have to work there YEARS just to be a
waiter, and the waiters would not even talk to
me because I was just so lowly. Seriously, to be
shunned by waiters at a crappy job was just too
much.”-Anonymous respondent (Professional
Entrepreneur).
(It was just because he was white)
7. “My wife and I have been living here in Hawaii as students for a few
months and have had countless interviews. The jobs, however, are always
handed to the locals. It doesn’t matter how qualified we may be. It’s a
struggle to find a job.” Kayson Conlin, a BYUH student
8. Competing with minimum
wage jobs isn’t the only
struggle for many
mainlanders.
It is hard to survive in the
school systems, if you are
white.
9. “The last day of school has long been
unofficially designated "Kill Haole Day,"
with white students singled out for
harassment and violence. (Haole —
pronounced how-lee — is slang for a
foreigner, usually white, and sometimes is
used as a racial slur.)”
10. My own mother has
first hand
experience with
this. A local
Polynesian girl
threatened to beat
her up if she didn’t
beat her in a race
around the school
(who could run the
fastest).
11. Classroom warfare is
real!
"Our daughters
would come home
with bruises and
cuts," Said a mother
of 2 blonde twin girls
to Intelligence Report
in Hawaii.
12. It’s not just in the school systems,
violence against whites is a state issue
13. Some Caucasian teenage girls on vacation
were yelled at on the beach by some
Polynesian girls saying, “Go back to the
mainland! Get your white a** off our
beaches!”
14. These girls father tried to step between the girls to stop the yelling, when suddenly 3
Hawaiian young men grabbed him and slammed him against a vehicle and cut his ear.
16. In conclusion, this is a
serious issue that needs
to be more fully
addressed so that there
can be a greater sense of
acceptance and love
towards the mainlanders.
