ever heard"?

3. "All three of my children look different. I get
asked if they are all mine, how long have I been
nannying, are they from donors and if they all
have the same daddy".
-Adriana M., Wappingers Falls
4. I was visiting my daughter's preschool
class last year and the little boy sitting
across from us kept bringing up how I am
white and my daughter is brown. My
daughter was sitting there looking a bit
angry and she tells him, "my shirt is
pink." She does not see us being any
different for our skin not matching, it's
just our normal.
-Samara K, Warwick
6. One lady walked up to my son and asked him what setting he
keeps the tanning bed at because his skin was beautiful! “I’ve
spent thousands of dollars trying to be your color”! My son
responded with “just eat beans and you’ll be brown like me”
-Tina M, West Point
7. When my husband
is not with me
people ask me what
race he is and when
I'm not with him
they ask what race
I am. At least when
they ask questions
that means they
aren't assuming.
–Erin J, Woodridge
8. My son’s teacher who told me
my son doesn’t talk or act
black.
-Nicole N, Wappingers
9. Many more moms spoke up too...
Oh your son is so dark, he's yours? I couldn't tell if he has a diaper rash
because his skin is so brown. Jennifer C.
When my eldest was a newborn I had a lady arguing with me that I must
have adopted him. Jennifer K,.
I very often get asked if my child is mine because we don’t have the same
skin, but I did give birth to her! And when I go pick her up from a group for
the first time, they assume I’m coming to pick up the dark skinned kid and
are surprised when I’m not.- Tracy M.
Last week someone asked me how old my daughter was when I adopted her,
so ignorant! Caren E.
