Study basic parts of an excavator. This will help you to learn basic parts in brief along with visual images on the side, which might help you to remember it easily.
3. INTRODUCTION
It is a completely Hydraulic machine. It consist of
4 hydraulic cylinders that can be subdivided
into 2 boom cylinders, 1 arm cylinder and 1
bucket cylinder.
5. MAIN PARTS
• Bucket
• Swing motor.
• Centre joint and Bearing.
• Hydraulic pump – primary and secondary.
• Control valve(Brain of hydaulic)
• MRV(main relief valve) and ORV(over relief
valve)
• Travel accessories.
6. Bucket
• GP(general purpose) bucket – used for soil like soft material
and has a capacity of 0.71 meter cube.
• HP bucket – used for mining and has a capacity of 0.65 meter
cube.
• Two main types of teeth used are forged and cast teeth. The
main difference is actually in impact – cast does not react
well to high torsional force as it is more brittle compound.
8. Hydraulic Pump
• It contains two pumps –
primary and secondary.
• Two hydraulic pumps
are used because the
machine is fully
hydraulic so to maintain
the flow of oil and all
possible conditions.
9. CONTROL VALVE
• It can be called as Brain
of the machine.
• Each and every
hydraulic part of the
machine is attached to
it by a pipe in which
hydraulic fluid flow
10. Main Relief Valve
• It is used to maintain the pressure inside the
hydraulics.
• It is always attached between the pump and
all hydraulic lines
• Whenever back pressure is generated in any
of the pistons, if it gets directly transferred to
the pump can damage it, but if MRV is
attached, the back pressure is controlled and
transferred to the tank.
