EXPERIENCE
Risk Analysis
First Data – Senior Risk Analyst for Walmart and Sams Aug 2014 - Present
Portfolio: I manage check processing for all North American Walmart and Sams locations (over
5100 stores, over 40 million dollars’ worth of transactions daily). My primary responsibility is
reducing company loss due to fraudulent activity by creating rules, models, and new variables
using statistics based forecasting. This is primarily accomplished via SAS, SQL, and Excel. Other
responsibilities include store setup and adjustments, research into customer declines, and
communicating findings to Walmart/Sams representatives. I also work with a team where in
shifts we take action on fraudulent activity occurring real-time at all First Data merchants.

Work Title: Research Assistant
Texas State University – Department of Finance and Economics Aug 2013 – Dec 2013
About: I assisted an Economics professor by gathering and interpreting data for his research
project, which assessed the use of a proposed new Monetary Policy tool involving Tax Rebates.
I compared our expected results with the data, and modified our theories and projections
based on these findings. The paper was published.
Forecasting
Course Title: Econometrics
Texas State University – Department of Finance and Economics Aug 2013 – Dec 2013
About: This advanced Economics course detailed statistical modeling. The goal was to use
existing information and past information to predict the movement of unknown variables in
future time periods based on the variables ‘typical’ characteristics. We delved deeply into the
2. theories behind the predicted movements, and understood how these movements applied to
the given market. This has been essential knowledge used in every position since.
Mathematics Tutor
Texas State University – Department of Mathematics Jan 2013-Nov 2013
About: I was qualified to tutor all undergraduate math courses offered at Texas State, with an
emphasis in Linear Algebra, Analysis, Statistics, and Proof-intensive Coursework. I tutored Texas
State students either one-on-one or in a group setting, depending on the material. This was a
fast-paced environment, where I worked on a team with other tutors to meet the needs of each
student.
