2. Just wanted to share why
I want to start up!

3. A few years ago...

4. I started working in Accident and
Emergency

5. Seeing people after they had
attempted suicide by overdose...

6. I found it really, really, hard...
Seeing the same people
who sometimes came back time
and time again!

7. Watching them come back...

8. Losing what hope they had each
time they overdosed

9. I felt helpless, trapped and afraid all
the skills I had were useless.... I could
not imagine how it felt to be there
feeling so bad...
Something had to change..

10. I started reading about the
Solution Focused
Approach pioneered by
Insoo Kim Berg and Steve
DeShazer.

11. It made sense to me
to ask what the Client
wants or what their
“best hopes” are..

12. After all you don’t do into a shop and
have an hour discussing why you are
hungry when you have asked for a loaf
of bread..

13. The Solution Focused Approach made
sense to me an my clients
We talked about things getting better
about how life would be if they got
what they needed to be happier or
just to feel like they could survive.

14. Since then I’ve trained, got
experienced and qualified so
I can offer something back.
I’ve spent over 8 years
studying and applying
this approach to mental
health and crisis social
work...

15. Then I realised something else..
Solution Focused works for people
not just when they are in a crisis

16. It’s a great tool for coaching,
management and team facilitation
To get people
moving in the same
direction together

17. So I'd like to tell you a bit more
