of plate tectonics separated each of
the component continents into their
current configuration.
The name was coined by Alfred
Wegener, chief proponent of
Continental Drift in 1915.

that explained how continents
on Earth's surface. Set forth in
Alfred Wegener, a geophysicist
meteorologist, continental drift
explained why look-alike animal
fossils, and similar rock
found on different continents.
7. B. Seafloor Spreading
Sea-floor spreading is what
happens at the mid-oceanic ridge
where a divergent boundary is
causing two plates to move away
from one another resulting
in spreading of the sea floor.
As the plates move apart, new
material wells up and cools onto
the edge of the plates.
