their car and drive for several kilometers to reach their destinations
• Becoming a habit, driving is not anymore an action that according to
people requires any daily particular mental concentration
• Driving is a habit for elderly people and people with a difficult
physiological condition as well
• Inappropriate signs become almost non-existent in case of foggy
weather conditions.

• Travelling on the wrong side of a road is a a very serious
phenomenon and not that uncommon as we may
believe.
• Wrong way accidents are in continuos growth and
cause each year a remarkable number of fatalities on
the roads and highways.

Italy spends from 24 up to 31 billion

This number is obtained by cross-referencing the data from Ania,
Ministry of Transport, Irpet e ACI
The total is the sum of the loss of productivity costs, psychological
damages, financial losses, administrative costs and basic health care
costs (treatment costs at the hospital).

• In the past years several information campaigns have been carried
out . The sigs in highway and freeways have been increased
• In some cases in USA several kind of vertical and horizontal
signalization has been added to the existing one
• This doesn’t look like being enough as the trend is not changing. The
problem is that the signs have no power against a distracted driver
or a psychological altered mind.
• But this is not enough..

• In the efforts to find innovative solutions, some kind of
photo – electric devices have been realized and introduced in some
countries
• However, signs have no power against a distracted driver or a
psychological altered mind.
• “This measure is ineffective“ says Gianantonio Scramuzza, researcher at
UPI(Swiss injury prevention office- www.upi.ch).
• Several studies have shown that such electronic devices are totally

• Now tested in Switzerland.
• The system, as for the system with surveillance cameras,
sends out a signal of a situation which is already happening.
• This method is only working on the effect and it is not
actively preventive

SAFE INLET is installed on the road surface at the end and across all the exit lanes of each
highway and parking area; it is not perceived at all by vehicles travelling in the correct way

If it is traversed by a vehicle travelling in the correct way, the system has a
neutral behavior, it doesn’t represent a bump for the vehicle and it is not
perceived at all by the driver and the other occupants.
In case of wrong entering, the system act as a bump giving a shock to the
vehicle which will alert all its occupants as an unmistakable signal telling
that they are doing something wrong.

• In the current phase of the project the materials and processes
needed to manufacture the product are not yet determined ,
therefore the total costs can not be calculated with precision .
• We have put in place a well-grounded Businnes Plan, together with
the Economic and Financial prospect, based on the experience in
the construction of the first prototypes.
• We refer to the consultation of B.P. the economic and profit
considerations.

• Several private companies have shown interest for the project, but for confidentiality
reasons we don’t reveal their names.
• Volvo AB, we received a remarkable endorsement by the Safety Director of Volvo AB Global

road security and risk management.
