differentiation and regeneration. Funding: Monthly stipend, travel allowance and health insurance
are sponsored by DAAD. Consumables, equipments and reagents provided by he host laboratory.

2) Project: Role of neurotropich factors contained in a sciatic nerve conditioned medium in neuronal
differentiation. Objective: Study of molecules involved in the morphology and functioning of neurons
to identify potential therapeutic agents for neuronal differentiation and regeneration. Note: Within this
project I have a current collaboration with Dr. Dirk Hermann, Chair Vascular Neurology and
Dementia at University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. That project consists in studying the role of
NRG-1 in the brain after ischemia. One doctoral student, Miss Jeismar Carballo, recently finished on
year appointment at Dr. Hermann’s Lab. to finish her doctoral thesis with DAAD funding. Funding:
IDEA Institute-Venezuelan Ministry of Science and Technology, 2008-Present. Role: Coordinator.
3) Project: Technologies to improve the diagnosis of the most frequent cancer. Grant Nº 2008001971.
Objective: Development of Technologies to identify risk factors and improve diagnosis in breast
cancer in Venezuelan population. Funding: Venezuelan Ministry of Science and Technology, 2012-
