18. History
Before 1415: Domination of Caliphates and
Kingdoms
1415: The city was conquered by John I of
Portugal
During 16th century: Spanish and Portuguese
crowns were united under Philip II of Spain and I
of Portugal.
1640:The inhabitants decided by a referemdum
to remain part of the Crown of Spain.
23. But Ceuta didn’t want to forget
Portugal, as can be see from its flag,
the flag of Saint Vicent, the same as
Lisbon’s, and its coat of arms, almost
identical to that of Portugal.
