Italy is a country located in Southern Europe that has a long history dating back to 753 BC when Rome was founded. It has borders with France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia and features the Italian Alps as its highest mountains and the Po River as its longest river. Italy has a strong economy focused on vineyards and wine production and is one of the largest wine exporters in Europe. Some of its most famous cities include Rome, the capital, known for landmarks like the Colosseum, as well as Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, and coastal areas like the Amalfi Coast and island of Capri.
