2. Colour The colour blue is a prominent statement in all three of our ancillary texts. We used the blue as it the colour stood out most in our film trailer. This was due to the sky and sea. The colour blue is a good theme in terms of relating to genre. The sky suggests ambiguity and freedom and the blue has connotations of happiness and companionship. The theme recurred in all texts in order for the audience to associate blue with the film. Making our texts recognisable and memorable.
3. The trailer The trailer was ‘released’ the weekend before Valentines days to increase audience as the genre is fitting for couples who would want to go and watch. We took advantage of this(optimum releasing). This would be the main source of our ancillary sales.
4. The title and font By using the same font in our film and our film poster, its echoes the connection between both. For instance if an audience member were to view the trailer, then see the poster, they may be able to make a connection between the two making the ancillary package memorable and increasing the chance of the audience member going to watch it. The Magazine cover however, did not use the same font as it was supposed to reflect a magazine series font therefore we made sure to change it. We did keep the colour blue in the hope of the audience connecting this with the other ancillary texts.
6. Tagline We included the tagline of ‘When you just cant let go’ as it fits normal convention of recently released and general releases of film posters. The tagline obviously was fitting. On the previous page there are examples of different tagline lines for different genre films, such as Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, Final destination and death at a funeral.
7. The actors As there was only three actors, we have concentrated our ancillary texts on the two protagonists. We have concentrated on the relationship between them in the magazine and on the poster.
8. Composition The camera focuses its attention mostly on the characters, the characters are mostly centre of shots and the ancillary texts. This is to draw the audience eyed on the characters more than the scenery.
9. Costumes The main female character changes attire, however keeps the same theme of femininity by wearing pale colours and floaty dresses etc. The male characters dress is made to contrast this by wearing dark sharp colours. This is done to make the audience aware of the difference in characters and the unity of them together.
10. Conclusion By keeping recurring themes throughout the ancillary texts, we were able to reach the audience in a memorable, which will in turn make them remember the movie making it more likely for them to go and watch. It also creates a link between the three ancillary contents. Overall the texts keep consistently connected with each other.
