RE: Margaret Cranney
Margaret Cranney commenced employment here at Capital E, Wellington, New Zealand, in
November 2009 as Education Bookings Coordinator, and left in July 2016. During her time
here, she has been a valued member of our staff. Her commitment to customer service
combined with her excellent organisational and communication skills ensure that each
component of the multi-faceted client relationship role she has fulfilled for our organisation
has been successful.
Capital E is a national centre for creativity for New Zealand’s children and their communities.
It incorporates a live performance programme from our National Theatre for Children, our
National Arts Festival and a comprehensive range of digital technology experiences and
creative workshops, exhibitions and events. Margaret has utilised her expertise in the field of
customer relations, frontline service provision, audience advocacy, and has applied her
commercial and creative knowledge and experience to the wide range of programmes and
activities we offer at Capital E.
During her employment, Margaret was the lead liaison between our organisation and the
education sector nationally, coordinating booking and evaluation processes for clients from
Stewart Island to the Far North. In her role, Margaret managed the booking processes,
liaised with our experience delivery teams to both; ensure education sector clients were well-
informed and up to date with information and; to collate and provide direct and indirect
feedback from our clients to the relevant delivery teams. She regularly contributed in the
development and improvement of Capital E systems, processes and procedures and
collaborated strongly with the marketing team to promote Capital E and its programmes
to the education sector. In all areas, Margaret demonstrated her dedication to our
organisation's vision and recognised the primary importance of the children and young
people who are our core customers.
2. A major strength in Margaret's skills repertoire is her respect for young people and her ability
to recognise client needs, which she applies effectively to evaluate and advocate from an
audience perspective. Over her years at Capital E, she effectively streamlined the education
booking process, establishing and consolidating our reputation for high quality, responsive
service and communication with our education clientele. In addition to her key role, Margaret
has been an invaluable contributor to several large scale events, exhibitions and public
programmes, investing considerable time and effort into researching potential new initiatives
and collating findings to present to the wider team. Her creative flair on many occasions has
'wowed the crowds' as she worked alongside the public programmes team to transform our
venue into a range of magical places for children and families to enjoy.
Margaret is a dedicated, sincere and passionate worker, who knows how to work hard and
how to have fun. She genuinely cares about our audiences and about the experiences they
enjoy through our organisation. I will miss her and I wish her all success in her future
endeavours.
Sincerely
Stuart Grant
