Marc Farrell, BA, MBA, Managing Partner – Search.
The background commences with over 20 years of corporate
HR experience in Canada and the United States, in a wide
variety of industries including oil/gas, building materials,
automotive, consumer products, and technology. This has
been followed by 12 years in retained search with a diverse
group of clients and searches conducted across North
America in manufacturing and engineering sectors.
We have three guiding principles that we follow in every search:
Understand The Client
We take the time to develop a good understanding of your
business. It is not just a question of being aware of the job
description, we need to have a knowledge of what your
business is all about. Appreciating your culture, your business
challenges and the types of individuals who are successful,
help us to refine our search.
Research The Market
Our research is critical. It is not just a question of placing an
ad to identify active job seekers. Many of the candidates will
be passive job seekers who will not respond to job boards.
These candidates need to be identified and attracted directly
with a concise and compelling value proposition.
Respect the Employer Brand
Many search companies underestimate the impact that a
search firm can have in the market with the employer brand.
We recognize that we are an extension of your brand,
therefore communication, knowledge, and follow-up with
prospective candidates can shape prospective candidates

Talent Solutions
We want to offer talent solutions which are creative and cost-
effective and would encourage our clients to want to partner
with us over the longer term. This is beneficial for both
ourselves and the client and allows us to be an extension of
their talent team.
Flat Rate Talent Searches
Unlike most companies, our philosophy is to offer a three
tiered flat rate fee for all retained searches based on the level
of the position. Simple and easy to understand, it is not driven
by the compensation of the selected candidate.
Supervisory/Technical/ Specialist positions
Managerial
Executive-Director/VP level
For most clients this results in a cost per hire to approximately
15-18% of base salary which is significantly below the
traditional market players. See sample chart below:
Flat Rate: Base Salary Cost Per Hire
Tier 1 80k 18.75%
100K 15%
Tier 2 120k 16.6%
Tier 3 150k 16.6%
200k 12.5%
Timeshare
This solution is ideal for clients who may have a number of
searches which need to be addressed in a specific period of
time. This could be due to a number of vacancies which are
unfilled, talent upgrading, projects or expansions where there
is a significant requirement for additional talent.
Clients purchase a minimum of a three month time block
(expandable on a monthly basis) where we work exclusively
for the client to address a significant number of searches.
The number of searches which can be completed typically
range from 6-9 searches depending on geography and range
of different positions.
For our clients this reduces the cost per hire to approximately
6-12% per hire allowing for a dedicated partner to work on
a larger influx of talent. See sample chart below:
