My primary role as the Community Project Worker (Comorbidity) is to deliver a whole
of community approach that promotes social inclusion and participation that works
towards building positive mental health within the Aboriginal community across
metropolitan Adelaide. The interventions recognize strengths of Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander culture, community and family. Paying particular attention to developing
and delivering content that is culturally appropriate, locally relevant and employ a
holistic approach that focuses on the physical, emotional, mental, cultural and spiritual
dimensions of health.

2015 – I started to deliver accredited training in Aboriginal Suicide Prevention
alongside a Trainer and Assessor in partnership with Nunkuwarrin Yunti’s Registered
Training Organisation; While studying in Training and Assessment Certificate IV.
2014 - At the start of 2014 I was selected to join the Aboriginal Leadership Committee.
The functions of the Aboriginal Leadership Committee is to:
1. Provide Confirmation of Aboriginality
2. Give cultural advice to any project within the Organisation
3. Acknowledge Community Social & Mental needs as arise.
4. Coordinating other Aboriginal Leadership Projects

• Coordinate SEWB Peer Support Forums and other support mechanisms targeting
Social Health staff within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services

networks and other support mechanisms targeting managers/team

• In conjunction with the Training Coordinator, support the development/delivery
of Aboriginal Mental Health and Social and Emotional Well Being workforce
competencies (training and assessment functions) and provide other educational
activities as required.
• Undertake other project work in line with the strategic goals of the Workforce
Support Program
• Support the development and maintenance of SEWB literature within Aboriginal
Community Controlled Health Services.
• Ensure continual improvement through advancing quality assurance processes
for the delivery of services
• Negotiate and engage external training and clinical supervision contractors
• Provide reports, briefs and other correspondence as required to the Manager
Workforce Support & Training Program
• Undertake activities to identify evaluate and promote models of best practice
within the SEWB workforce.

Early 2012 I had become the Case Management Coordinator & Chair – dealing with the
complex client issues. As well as continuing to be the Aboriginal Men’s Program
Coordinator.
End of 2011 - I had become the Coordinator of the Aboriginal Men’s Program, which I
operated in conjunction to the Aboriginal Primary Health Care Plan.
June 30th 2011 - I started as an Aboriginal Health Worker (community) at the Southern
Adelaide Local Health Network. At the start I worked with the Aboriginal Mental
Health Worker learning and developing the appropriate way of working with the
Aboriginal community facilitating the access to the multi-disciplinary teams of the
southern region and co-coordinating the Aboriginal Men’s Program.
