Measuring True Process Yield using Robust Yield Metrics
Millenium oceans
1. Project : Vitamin Sea
Which of the following goals does your project contribute to? (Select all that applies) *
● Promoting and strengthening sustainable ocean-based economies.
● Managing, protecting, conserving and restoring marine and coastal ecosystems.
● Minimizing and addressing ocean acidification, deoxygenation and ocean
warming.
● Raising awareness on the conservation and sustainable use of oceans and their
resources.
######What is your project about? Describe the project in detail and specify what issue
your project is addressing
The cruelty against marine life, illegal poaching and overfishing incites the dread of
extinction of diverse ocean species and invaluable habitats. Recent perpetration against
Sea Mammals (Irrawaddy dolphin, humpbacked dolphin and Bryde's whale) or coastal
turtles propagated the immense necessity of ocean life observation and preservation.
[Ref 1,2,3] Considering the fact that tuna and dolphins reside in the same waters and
Irrawaddy dolphins found in shallower and warmer coastal areas frequently which leads
poachers, dishonest fishermen or even tourists to target these sea creatures
intentionally/ignorantly using fishing nets and traps. Stigmatization of these animals as
detrimental, devil or notorious to their profession/life because of different shape, figure
and outlook is a common scenario among coastal communities.
Lack of information, inadequate law enforcement against animal cruelty and zero social
awareness about ocean ecoculture and sanctuary motivates the social misconception
and illetracy towards deep-sea ecosystems and sensitivity to climate change. Thus
resulting in increased viciousness, torture and killing of marine lives, disruption of the
ocean environment, lower fish production and sanctuary disruptions. Our campaign
stands against cruel insurgency towards ocean creatures and biodiversity by
considering following smart goals to address proper involvement of enthusiastic and
concerned youths, community leaders, journalists and social activists into one platform
to raise voice and immediate action while ascertaining the need of intervention and
emergency.
######What are your project's 3 primary "SMART" goals?
2. ● 1. Recruit at least 500 root level volunteers and engage at least 1K fishermen
families for the next 1 year at world's longest sea beach Cox's Bazar to promote
social awareness, marine justice and immediate response/ rescue operation to
save ocean creatures such as mammals (dolphins) and turtles from cruelty and
inhuman activities.
● 2. Promote at least 3 social startups with a workable MVP (minimum viable
product) related to SDG14 in strengthening sustainable ocean-based economies
to balance between sustainable use of ocean resources by fishermen
communities and ocean biodiversity.
● 3. Establishment of data driven advocacy and monitoring web portal for
observing marine life activities, sanctuaries, environment (acidification,
deoxygenation and ocean warming) in realtime to provide strategic assistance to
government in tourist and ocean management to mitigate the risk of marine lives
extinction.
######How will you measure progress toward your SMART Goals and Objectives? List
at least three things you'll be measuring during your project.
● Young and Active volunteers would report on a daily basis through blockchain
based web portal this would ensure real time access of information, social action,
marine threat evaluation, rescue and legal operations immediately.
● Monthly progress checking, mentoring, and support for 3 social startups would be
ensured by the “Vitamin Sea” team to demonstrate and lead them towards
sustainable solutions, marine leadership and impact on social outlooks.
● Data driven insights, well researched substantial biodiversity report and quarterly
volunteer meetup would showcase project outcomes, effective advancement
and future propositions towards goals of the movement.
######How will you use the funds if you win the prize? (Tip: Breakdown the $5,000 to
the needs of the project - be clear on how the funds will be used). *
● Voluntary remuneration around 1500$ for the entire 1 year of operation among
focused fishermen communities and root level field operations at cox’s bazar.
● 1500$ for substantial research, data driven reporting and web portal
development for monitoring ocean environment, biodiversity and impact.
● 2000$ for event organizing and logistics, startup support materials, legal/rescue
operation and medical treatment (if needed for mammals/turtles)
3. Hello, this is nayeem from the team "Vitamin Sea''. I am a data scientist and activist and
we work against marine animal cruelty and preservation of ocean biodiversity through
voluntary contribution, effective campaigning and root level ignition. Our campaign
focuses on Access of information, awareness building, immediate response and rescue
operations at World's longest sea beach cox's bazar, covering over 120 miles of sea
shore . We are expecting to develop a social advancement by implementing SDG14
and looking forward to actively spark this movement among at least 500 young
volunteers and participation of 500 fishermen families from local communities..
Therefore we’ll promote 3 social startups to come up with a workable viable startup
solution related to ocean based economics and environmental context for creating a
well balanced sea humanity solidity movement by the cooperation of law enforcement
officials , social activists and policy makers. We will also monitor the project outcome at
a data driven web portal to get valuable insights, ensure immediate response and
proper leadership throughout the next 1 year. I’m working with my diverse team
members from tech, law, journalism, mbbs and social activism backgrounds. And we
believe the millennium ocean Would contribute to our movement by providing funding
and mentorship. We welcome you all to join our movement. Let's make the world's
longest sea beach a biodiversible and sea creature friendly sanctuary.
Have you ever wondered this is a crime against animals to kill any of those without any
reason or for poaching? this is the most ignorant knowledge among the seashore
fishermen, local communities and ocean dependent professionals. We are addressing
this by igniting the campaign from 3 dimensional approach including vitamin sea,
voluntary contribution and substantial proposition to mitigate and illustrate the outcome
of this campaign. We believe, proper information, enforcement of law, adequate
measures, government, NGO partnership and leadership. I'm Ishrat Zahan Muni, co-
activist at vitamin sea
