Gender and Sexuality CONTENT STANDARD Students gain deep understanding of the importance and acceptance and respect for different perspectives about issues in gender and sexuality. PERFORMANCE STANDARD The students are able to create a documentary that promotes respect for citizens right to chose their gender and sexuality. LEARNING COMPETENCY Analyze the effect of same-sex marriage in countries that permits it. AP10IKP-IIIi-12 OJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, students must be able to: 1. defined same-sex marriage; 2. analyzed the effect of same-sex marriage; and, 3. shared their sentiments on allowing same-sex marriage in the country. LEARNING ACTIVITIES TEACHER’S GUIDE Activity: 5 minutes Show varied pictures about same sex marriage. Let the students analyze the picture and answer the processing questions. 1. What is the picture all about? Write the term same sex marriage on the board. Let them read the concept aloud. Let the students write their ideas inside the concept map. Analysis: 5 minutes Write and introduced the term same-sex marriage. Ask the students to share their own thoughts or ideas about the term. They will write their ideas on the board through a concept map. Processing Question: 1. From the ideas you written on the board, how can you define same-sex marriage? 1. Write the term same sex marriage on the board. 2. Let them read the concept aloud. 3. Let the students write their ideas inside the concept map. Put the chart on the blackboard. 4. Guide and let the students fill the chart. 5. Discuss what they have written. Abstraction: 20 minutes Divide the class into four groups and make them enumerate the negative and positive effects of the same-sex marriage in countries that permits it. Make them present their work through the diagram below. Each group presentation will be rated according to the following criteria: Content - 5 points Organization of the ideas - 3 points Presentation - 2 points Total -10 points 1. What are the positive effects of same sex marriage? 2. What are the negative effects of same sex marriage? 3. All things being equal, would you live in a state that makes it legal for gay and lesbian couples to marry? Why or Why not? Group the students into four groups. Put the chart on the blackboard. Give to students the criteria for their group activity. They will be given 10 minutes to finish their work.
