2. β’ Our main character is Grace, she
is a typical white teenage girl who
has blonde hair and blue eyes.
β’ We decided to have grace look
like so, to make her look like a
normal student, making her way
to college.
β’
I feel that having her look like
this, makes her look young and
venerable. However because she
comes across as quite an
independent young girl (making
her own way to college) she is
otherwise, and is actually quite a
courageous and daring character
through out the rest of the film
3. β’ I would compare our main
character to the main character
from the ring (Rachel Keller)
played by Naomi Watts because
she's quite obviously blond haired
and blue eyes (like grace) and
overall looks quite plain and
dresses in simple, ordinary
clothes.
β’ She also comes across as
normal and ordinary at the start
of the ring and turns out
completely different by the end.
She also shows that despite the
steryotype of 'Blonde bimbo's'
and the 'damsel in destress' she
is far from so, and turns out to be
courageous and sorts out all
problems and enigmas through
the course of the movie. (like
grace would)
4. β’ One of the most obvious similarities between the two is that they
are both female.
β’ This shows that stereotypically, they are more venerable and
weak compared to a man and so provides a challenge for them
through the course of the film.
β’ Through out our opening we don't emphasize on whether
females or males in general are stronger/weaker. But we aimed
to show that grace, being a stereotypical college student is
young, innocent and venerable.
5. β’ The Images above show both characters in a similar light, for
example; both have long blonde hair (could possibly show
girlyness) both are wearing plain clothes without much colour
(showing themselves as ordinary visually) and the overall colour
scheme in both pictures are plain, bland and sterile with a slight
green tone to them.
β’ Both of them seem unsure and uncomfortable in both shots;
Rachel with a shocked open mouthed expression and Grace
holding her wrist as if to show insecurity or embarrassment
(coming into a full class late)
6. β’ Although both characters are quite similar, there's also one rather large
difference. This is age.
β’ Grace being considerably younger than Rachel shows that she is possibly more
venerable and naive, and will come across more difficult and challenging
enigmas through the film.
β’ Rachel being an older woman would be able to handle herself better and would
be able to think rationally.
β’ Also, Rachel has a child (Aidan) and so shows that she is used to having
responsibilities and duty's in life. Whereas, Grace does not and so would find it
difficult to have to face challenges and responsibilities if she came across hard
decisions.
