1. How useful is business research for a manager in any organization?
ANSWER: Business research is important to a manager or any organization
because it serves as the basis in making decisions.
2. Which method would you prefer in research – qualitative, quantitative, or both?
Why?
ANSWER: It can be both qualitative and quantitative because by doing so, the
researcher can validate the result from quantitative research using the
qualitative research result.

1. Why do you consider business research a scientific endeavor?
ANSWER: Business research is considered a scientific endeavor because the
result of investigations of what causes the problem, collecting data and
observations, and other relevant data are used to construct or test hypotheses that
purport to solve it.
2. When is the exploratory method necessary in a research?
ANSWER: Exploratory method in research is necessary if you want to find more
information about the problem, issue, or phenomenon and dig deeper into it and is
also intends to reduce the research options to a manageable size.

1. Based on your readings, what are the criteria of a good business research?
ANSWER: The criteria of a good business research is that it must be grounded on
the theory and empirically verifiable (for quantitative business research), must
contribute to the advancement of knowledge in business and management, the
result must be ethically neutral, and for qualitative business research, the
observation could be interpreted by the experts that can be used by managers in
making a decision.
2. When do you use a business case study?
ANSWER: Case studies are often used in exploratory research to help us generate
new ideas and they are an important way of illustrating theories and can help show
how different aspects of a person's life are related to each other.

Case 1: How to start a research paper?
It is the first day of school and Bianca Reyes is excited to attend her Business
Research class because she wants to help her friend Ana, who may not continue her
college education in the long run as her family-owned business is now facing a
problematic situation. Ana told her that for the last six months, the company has not paid
the salaries and compensations of their personnel due to its low sales. Bianca is bent on
helping Ana; after listening to the lecture of her professor, Mr. Legaspi, she immediately
tells Ana that her family-owned company will be the focus of her study. Bianca learns that
she has yet to prepare a lot of things, so to start the research paper, she prepares some
guide questions to wit:
1. What type of business research method is appropriate for the company? Why?
ANSWER: The type of business research method that is appropriate for the
Ana’s company can be both quantitative and qualitative business research
because Bianca needs to collect first the primary data of problem by making
quantitative research and then finally will dig deeper by making qualitative
research in order to find out what really is the main reasons of the company’s
failure to pay its employees’ salaries and compensation.
2. Which type of business research could effectively determine the dilemma of
the company? Why?
ANSWER: The qualitative business research is more likely to be effective way
of determining the dilemma of the company because a deeper analysis of the
respondents as to their ideas and opinions regarding what is happening in the
company.
3. Who will be the right person to approach so that this research could start?
ANSWER: The right person to approach so that the research could start is the
business owner. In order for the business researcher to figure out the problem
of the company is to have an interview with the owner or whoever is directly
managing the company (which is probably the owner) in order to initially find
out what is the company’s status.

ANSWER: The triangulation method is the combination of quantitative research
and qualitative research. It is necessary to do this method when the researcher
needs to compare the results of the study and will have to come with various levels
of analysis.

across the population.
ANSWER: The findings of qualitative business research cannot be generalized
across the population because it is treated like a case study.

ANSWER: Attach below is the sample abstract of a business research that uses
the triangulation method.
The researcher in the Qualitative Research in Marketing and Management
University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna uses both
qualitative and quantitative method or also known as triangulation method in their
research. The reason for this is because this type of mixed method has gained not only
popularity, but acceptability as well, with a significant number of studies arguing its virtues
in terms of greater understanding and validation of results. Though this triangulation
method is popular, working with it raises a range of issues above and beyond those
encounters within a particular methodology.

Using the triangulation method issues includes wide range of demands on
researchers’ skills, finances, and time, but as a result, it helps the researcher dig deeper
into its research and eventually claim greater validity of a result of using both qualitative
and quantitative approaches to research.
