This module introduces advanced wireless technology. The aims are to develop knowledge and skills in advanced wireless topics like 3G networks, UMTS, WCDMA, WiMAX, and wireless access. Learning outcomes include explaining 3G technologies, discussing broadband wireless access and WiMAX, and investigating how WiMAX is implemented. Students will cover topics on 3G technologies, air interfaces, network architecture, and design considerations. They will participate in class activities and be assessed through an in-course group project and final exam. The next session will introduce 3G technologies including UMTS, migration to UMTS, and 3GPP.
