ARE WOMEN, AND THAT IT REACHES MORE THAN 126 MILLION PEOPLE WITH ITS
SERVICES. THE ORGANISATION IS PARTLY SELF-FUNDED THROUGH A NUMBER OF SOCIAL
ENTERPRISES THAT INCLUDE A DAIRY AND FOOD PROJECT, A CHAIN OF RETAIL
HANDICRAFT STORES CALLED AARONG, SEED AND AGRO, AND CHICKEN. BRAC HAS
OPERATIONS IN 14 COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD.

• BRAC IS ONE OF THE LARGEST NGOS INVOLVED IN PRIMARY EDUCATION
IN BANGLADESH. AS OF THE END OF 2012, IT HAD MORE THAN 22,700
NON-FORMAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS WITH A COMBINED ENROLMENT OF
670,000 CHILDREN. ITS SCHOOLS CONSTITUTE THREE-QUARTERS OF ALL
NGO NON-FORMAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN THE COUNTRY.
• BRAC'S EDUCATION PROGRAMME PROVIDES NON-FORMAL PRIMARY
EDUCATION TO THOSE LEFT OUT OF THE FORMAL EDUCATION SYSTEM,
ESPECIALLY POOR, RURAL, OR DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN, AND DROP-
OUTS.ITS SCHOOLS ARE TYPICALLY ONE ROOM WITH ONE TEACHER AND
NO MORE THAN 33 STUDENTS. CORE SUBJECTS INCLUDE MATHEMATICS,
SOCIAL STUDIES AND ENGLISH. THE SCHOOLS ALSO OFFER
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES.THEY INCENTIVISE SCHOOLING BY
PROVIDING FOOD, ALLOWING FLEXIBLE LEARNING HOURS, AND
CONFERRING SCHOLARSHIPS CONTINGENT ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE.
• BANGLADESH HAS REDUCED THE GAP BETWEEN MALE AND FEMALE
ATTENDANCE IN SCHOOLS.THE IMPROVEMENT IN FEMALE ENROLLMENT,
WHICH HAS LARGELY BEEN AT THE PRIMARY LEVEL, IS IN PART
ATTRIBUTABLE TO BRAC. ROUGHLY 60% OF THE STUDENTS IN THEIR
SCHOOLS ARE GIRLS.

পরীক্ষািূেে েিমসূচীর সফেত্ার হার ৯০%।
১৯৯৭ সাকে ১ি মেণী মথকে ৫ি মেণী পর্যন্ত ৪বছর
মিোিী উপানুষ্ঠাকনে প্রাথকিে ক ক্ষা চােু েকর। ২০০০

• AFLATOUN HAS AN ARABIC ORIGIN AND MEANS 'EXPLORER'. THE CONCEPT OF AFLATOUN
WAS INITIATED IN INDIA. CURRENTLY, THE CONCEPT IS PUT IN PLACE IN SEVERAL COUNTRIES
ACROSS THE GLOBE AFTER ESTABLISHING ITS SECRETARIAT IN AMSTERDAM, THE
NETHERLANDS. THE AFLATOUN SECRETARIAT ADVOCATES WIDENING THE CONCEPT
WORLDWIDE BY CREATING PARTNERSHIPS WITH SEVERAL GOVERNMENTS AND NON-
GOVERNMENT ORGANISATIONS.
THE MAIN AIM OF AFLATOUN IS TO TEACH THE CHILDREN ABOUT SOCIAL VALUES AND THEIR
RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES COUPLED WITH BASIC FINANCIAL EDUCATION TO EMPOWER
THEM TO BECOME AGENTS OF CHANGE. THE CORE OBJECTIVE IS TO FACILITATE THE
INCLUSION OF CHILD SOCIAL AND FINANCIAL EDUCATION INTO FORMAL AND INFORMAL
EDUCATION SYSTEMS AND RECOGNITION OF CHILDREN'S RIGHTS.

IN 2008, BEP STARTED WORKING WITH AFLATOUN AND IMPLEMENTED ITS
CONCEPT AS A PILOT PROJECT IN BPS, ADOLESCENT CLUBS AND GOVERNMENT

ITS SCHOOLS CONSTITUTE THREE-QUARTERS OF ALL NGO NON-FORMAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN THE COUNTRY. • BRAC'S EDUCATION PROGRAMME PROVIDES NON-FORMAL PRIMARY EDUCATION TO THOSE LEFT OUT OF THE FORMAL EDUCATION SYSTEM, ESPECIALLY POOR, RURAL, OR DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN, AND DROP- OUTS.ITS SCHOOLS ARE TYPICALLY ONE ROOM WITH ONE TEACHER AND NO MORE THAN 33 STUDENTS. CORE SUBJECTS INCLUDE MATHEMATICS, SOCIAL STUDIES AND ENGLISH. THE SCHOOLS ALSO OFFER EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES.THEY INCENTIVISE SCHOOLING BY PROVIDING FOOD, ALLOWING FLEXIBLE LEARNING HOURS, AND CONFERRING SCHOLARSHIPS CONTINGENT ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE. • BANGLADESH HAS REDUCED THE GAP BETWEEN MALE AND FEMALE ATTENDANCE IN SCHOOLS.THE IMPROVEMENT IN FEMALE ENROLLMENT, WHICH HAS LARGELY BEEN AT THE PRIMARY LEVEL, IS IN PART ATTRIBUTABLE TO BRAC. CURRENTLY, THE CONCEPT IS PUT IN PLACE IN SEVERAL COUNTRIES ACROSS THE GLOBE AFTER ESTABLISHING ITS SECRETARIAT IN AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS.
