Stenter Machine
 A Stenter is a fabric transport device for bringing dimensional stability to the fabric.
 This machine grasps fabric at both selvages simultaneously and continuously and carries
it from one point to another. Two endless chains equipped with either clips or pins
grasp the selvages and move in a proper way, carrying the fabric between them.
 It is a Cosmetic finisher machine
Objectives Of Stenter
A machine or apparatus for stretching or stentering fabrics. The purpose of
the Stenter machine is to bringing the length and width to pre determine
dimensions and also for heat setting and it is used for applying finishing
chemicals and also shade variation is adjusted. The main function of the
Stenter is to stretch the fabric widthwise and to recover the uniform width.

WorkingProcedureOfStenter
Machine:
The fabric is collected from the batcher to the scray and then it is passed through the padders where
the finishes are applied and some times shade variation is corrected. The fabric is entered into the
Mahlo (weft straightener) the function of the Mahlo is to set the bow and also weave of the fabric is
griped by the clips and pins are also provided but the pins has a disadvantage that they pins make
holes at the selvedge but the stretching of the pins are greater than the clips. these clips and pins are
joined to endless chain. there are 5 chambers provided on the machine each chamber contains a burner
and filters are provided to separate dust from air. the circulating fans blow air from the base to the
upper side and exhaust fans sucks all the hot air within the chambers. Attraction rollers are provided to
stretch the warp yarn.
After stentering we can increase the width of the fabric up to 1.5-2 inch. The speed of the machine is
about 7-150 m/min.3 meters fabric can run in each chamber. temperature is adjusted that according
to the fabric as for,
1. PC 210 c
2. Cotton 110-130 c
After dyeing 160-170c and after print 130-140c.

Machine List:
1. POWER FRAME ECOLINE STENTER
2. POWER FRAME ECO STENTER
3. POWER FRAME STENTER
Machine Specification:
The newly developed stenter is provided with an integrated heat-recovery system and has clear benefits for the
cleaning and maintenance of the line. The first dryer half-zone can be equipped with an air-through zone
supplied with exhaust air from the dryer. A heating source is thus not required, at the same time primary energy
can be saved. This new system offers in addition high air circulation and temperature equality and the customer
benefit from an increased production capacity.
 Saving of thermal energy due to the air-through zone in the entry
 Further saving of thermal energy by using the exhaust air heat via integrated heat-recovery systems
 Clearly higher comfort for cleaning and maintenance works
 Patented Venture mixing system for an optimum temperature and air mixing
 Transport system available with non-lub vertical and low-lub horizontal chain

What is Maintenance?
Maintenance Means actions necessary for retaining or restoring a piece of equipment, machine, or system to the
specified operable condition to achieve its maximum useful life.
Types Of Maintenance:
Corrective maintenance: The set of tasks is destined to correct the defects to be found in the different
equipment and that are communicated to the maintenance department by users of the same equipment.
Preventive Maintenance: Its mission is to maintain a level of certain service on equipment, programming the
interventions of their vulnerabilities in the most opportune time. It is used to be a systematic character, that is,
the equipment is inspected even if it has not given any symptoms of having a problem.
Predictive Maintenance: It pursues constantly know and report the status and operational capacity of the
installations by knowing the values of certain variables, which represent such state and operational ability. To
apply this maintenance, it is necessary to identify physical variables (temperature, vibration, power consumption,
etc.). Which variation is indicative of problems that may be appearing on the equipment. This maintenance it is
the most technical, since it requires advanced technical resources, and at times of strong mathematical, physical
and / or technical knowledge.
Zero Hours Maintenance: The set of tasks whose goal is to review the equipment at scheduled intervals
before appearing any failure, either when the reliability of the equipment has decreased considerably so it
is risky to make forecasts of production capacity . This review is based on leaving the equipment to zero
hours of operation, that is, as if the equipment were new. These reviews will replace or repair all items
subject to wear. The aim is to ensure, with high probability, a good working time fixed in advance.
Periodic maintenance : The basic maintenance of equipment made by the users of it. It consists of a
series of elementary tasks (data collections, visual inspections, cleaning, lubrication, retightening screws,…)
for which no extensive training is necessary, but perhaps only a brief training.
Types Of Maintenance:
Electrical Parts Maintenance:
It is two types:
1.Preventive maintenance
2.Break down maintenance
Preventive
Maintenance:
Time period Parts name Maintenance
Daily Wiring Check electricity supply/wire connection.
Weekly  Main motor

Stenter machine faults & remedies
Faults Causes Remedies
GSM variation Improper heat setting Mention properly heat setting
Spirality problem Improper skew control
Skewness of the fabric should be
controlled specially for single jersey
fabric.
Overheating
If temperature and speed is not
properly controlled.
temperature and speed should be
properly controlled
Bowing
Uneven distribution of tension across
the fabric width
Bowing can be corrected by
reprocessing the fabric by feeding it
from the opposite end.
Skewing Improper feeding of the fabric
Use a drop needle line as a reference
line to keep the grain lines straight
while feeding fabric
Width problem Improper width setting during
stentering
Width should properly be set during
stentering
That’s all of my

Maintenance Means actions necessary for retaining or restoring a piece of equipment, machine, or system to the specified operable condition to achieve its maximum useful life. Types Of Maintenance: Corrective maintenance: The set of tasks is destined to correct the defects to be found in the different equipment and that are communicated to the maintenance department by users of the same equipment. Preventive Maintenance: Its mission is to maintain a level of certain service on equipment, programming the interventions of their vulnerabilities in the most opportune time. It is used to be a systematic character, that is, the equipment is inspected even if it has not given any symptoms of having a problem. Predictive Maintenance: It pursues constantly know and report the status and operational capacity of the installations by knowing the values of certain variables, which represent such state and operational ability. To apply this maintenance, it is necessary to identify physical variables (temperature, vibration, power consumption, etc.). Which variation is indicative of problems that may be appearing on the equipment. This maintenance it is the most technical, since it requires advanced technical resources, and at times of strong mathematical, physical and / or technical knowledge.
  • 20. Zero Hours Maintenance: The set of tasks whose goal is to review the equipment at scheduled intervals before appearing any failure, either when the reliability of the equipment has decreased considerably so it is risky to make forecasts of production capacity . This review is based on leaving the equipment to zero hours of operation, that is, as if the equipment were new. These reviews will replace or repair all items subject to wear. The aim is to ensure, with high probability, a good working time fixed in advance. Periodic maintenance : The basic maintenance of equipment made by the users of it. It consists of a series of elementary tasks (data collections, visual inspections, cleaning, lubrication, retightening screws,…) for which no extensive training is necessary, but perhaps only a brief training. Types Of Maintenance:

  • 23. Stenter machine faults & remedies Faults Causes Remedies GSM variation Improper heat setting Mention properly heat setting Spirality problem Improper skew control Skewness of the fabric should be controlled specially for single jersey fabric. Overheating If temperature and speed is not properly controlled. temperature and speed should be properly controlled Bowing Uneven distribution of tension across the fabric width Bowing can be corrected by reprocessing the fabric by feeding it from the opposite end. Skewing Improper feeding of the fabric Use a drop needle line as a reference line to keep the grain lines straight while feeding fabric Width problem Improper width setting during stentering Width should properly be set during stentering
