1933 San Joaquin Valley Cotton Strike in California
with more than three centuries of migration through
north- western Mexico into the US South-west.
Acuña sets out to show that Mexican workers were
not mere followers in this saga and that they had a
long history of labor activism in the mines of
northern Mexico and Arizona, that eventually
brought them to California.
Anything But Mexicans, an incisive, meticulously
researched book that documents the irreversible
demographic shift taking place in California, particularly
in Los Angeles, This is the first book that analyses the
historical significance of this fact in cultural, political,
economic, and educational terms.

Fernando Valley State now The California State University
Northridge– Started the largest Chicano Studies Department in the
United States with 30 tenured professors -- has authored 19 books,
three of which received the Gustavu's Myers Award for the
Outstanding Book on Race Relations in North America.

your studies in such a manner. Dr. RODOLFO F. ACUÑA received his
doctorate in Latin American Studies, concentration in history, in 1968.
