2. Process
In this video I wanted out and filmed a fight scene for my experiment where I got different takes
of two of my friends fake fighting and tried to put it together into a fight but changed it into a set
up for bloopers and put it into a compilation from the amount of footage that I recorded. The
tools that I used to to film was a tri pod and a camera with a boom stick and microphone so that I
would be able to set up a good camera angle on the field that we used the reason that I wanted a
tri-pod is so that I would be able to set up a good angle to be able to film the fight scene. I created
folders to fit the work into and different sequences for the clips to be but around. I had a look at
the different available affects that I would be able to use but I felt that It did not work with what I
was trying to create, and I added the different takes to represent the idea of a montage and
bloopers from a possible trailer that could have been made out of the clips. I used the cutting tool
to cut out different parts of the footage that needed to be changed because the camera swayed
from side to side a bit this made the trailer look off and so I had to cut out certain parts of
footage. I put all of my work into a montage because I thought and felt that it would be a good
idea to create this because of all the footage I caught that did not work.
On premier I used the lighting effect originally as an idea to add to this production experiment
however the visual affects of it did not fit anywhere within the montage and made it look like
something that it wasn’t and although it was fun to play around with the lightning visual affect
and move it by degree on premier I found it to be something that I most certainly wish to include
in my final project. I had some fun creating the montage as well with the music that I added, I
went on the hunt for something royalty free and cheesy to add some humor to what was going
and the fact that it does not fit in my opinion is the reason that I like it, I find it confusing and to
me this makes it an experience to watch and feel happier after seeing it. The music that I got for
the trailer was from http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music/2 which is royalty free, the
reason that I chose to make it so that its not copy right in any way and means that its safe to use,
after I got on the website it took time and testing of different songs to find one and out of all the
royalty free music the song that I chose is the song that fit the best and the other soundtracks just
didn’t seem to cut it when it came to helping create my montage and I am happy with the tune
that I got in the end. On the default title stills I wrote out each of the title sequences individually
and looked at a few different ideas of fonts that I could later use and how it would look if I tried to
do it for my final project and the outcome that it would have. Overall I think that it worked with
the different tapes and my idea was to cut it to a short title sequence in the montage and I did this
by using the cut tool and this was to make sure that the “take” scenes didn’t cover up all and each
part of the video clips, I positioned each one of them to start precisely when the matching video
clip started. This gave ample time to watch each clip see that it was a certain “take” and the
viewer would see that it fit well. I found using these tool very useful and it has helped teach me
exactly what I am going to need to use when I am making my final project trailer and the types of
cinematography I will need while filming so that it fits in with the film trailer perfectly because
when I move onto my final project I want to make sure that it is the best that it can possibly be
and this can really help the end look of my product. To film this is used a Sony camera with a tri
pod, boom stick microphone and usb connection lead so that I would be able to transfer what I
filmed and add the footage to my computer in order to edit the work.
Tools used:
• Drag tool – in order to move the different title sequences around and alter them to the
correct position that fit the montage the best. This tool was effective because it meant that I
was bale to move the clip to different points and improve on the style and the way that it
looked.
• Cut tool - I used the cut tool to split up different parts of my footage and delete parts that
where not needed. This tool was affective because it meant that I was able to cut out bits of
video that I didn't want and keep the good parts.
• Unlink tool – to cut out the audio that I had in the footage I originally recorded I had to unlink
the audio and then cut it out from the video footage. This tool was very effective because it
meant that I was able to remove audio and background sound from the footage to add in
music and make it look better as an end product.
• Default still title – I used this in order to create the ”take” titles in between each new clip and
the reason for this is to add some context to it and make it seem like a montage with
bloopers. This tool was effective because it meant that I was able to add in different tapes
giving context behind each separate part of footage.
• Bins area – I used the different folders so that I would be able to split up different parts of
footage such as the outdoor and indoor footage so that I could be able quickly choose
different parts of footage. This was affective because it meant that I had organization and a
order to what I was doing making creating the project experiment easier and more efficient.
3. Process
• For this I have taken the first process and just added in an extra distil roll so that it looks
like a professional peace. To do this I used the title still in the menu on title and added in
a distil roll and it took me to a blank customization screen where I was able to add the
names of the people that started in the bloopers of the fight scene and then I moved it
to the side and had it so that it would move up from the right side of the page and
would be large and easily visible to people to see. After I had added the frame I moved
the title from the bin area to the main timeline and then added it into the timescale
using the drag tool. I then selected the original fight and shrunk it onto the left side of
the screen so that the distil roll would look like end credits going on by the right side of
the page and it would end up looking life a professional after credit bloopers scene. The
reason that I chose to add it in as that was because the video on its own I do not believe
suited it.
4. Process
• In this poster for the film I used the enlarging tool to zoom in on the image that I had captured from the photo and then
added a Morton v tahmid which is the title of the experiment its kind of a jokey montage of a fight and I took the name
concept from batman v superman for the title and the reference that can be made here I to compare the two
characters of Morton and tahmid as heroes and I created the title by using the text tool and then adding blending
options with a inner and outer glow to make the title in the poster much more visible to people. They are stood moving
towards each other as they are in batman v superman which is also the comparison and it think that it fits well with the
experiments. The place that this is filmed is the college field and this is good because it provides me a place to film my
experiment on the college ground and for this I had to come up with a solution for the story and plot that I could use
and how it would be set out and I decided that the best bet that I had for a film trailer or montage as it turned out for
an experiment was to have a go at a fight scene between people. The reason for this is because it also gives me an idea
of how difficult it would be to actually direct a fight scene and I did the best that I could to direct the fight scene. In the
end the fight scene was bad and didn't’t work well as a trailer or fight scene so I decided that I would change it into a
joke like montage of them two fighting in different scenes instead this is because I could then show the process that
was taken and the tapes trying to get it right before we ran out of time to complete the footage. I think that it is
important to include all the scenes of footage in the experiment because it gets across the different types of footage
that I captured and the attempts it made to try. In this poster I took a screen shot from the footage that I caught in the
precise moment so that it fit to the idea that I wanted and needed. The basic concept I had behind his was the idea of
the fun that you have while making the fight scene which is why I altered it and I think that the idea of the poster
copying the poster concept for batman v superman was a good idea and the reason for this is because I think that it
really stands out as a parody and shows that its not something serious and the humor of the title is inside humor but I
think can clearly be seen as a parody and also the way that they are walking to each other in comparison to the batman
v superman trailer where they are stood in the same type of positions however the weather outside and imagery is
bright and sunny which represents that its not dark and serious but its light outside and cheery., hen making this poster
I had originally got the warner bros and Disney company logos and started to use the magic wand tool to cut out the
parts that did not fit and then add it to my poster with a transparent background so that it perfectly, however as these
are big company logos it comes under the copy right agreement and I am not allowed to use and I had to then remove
them leaving no company logos which wont happen on the final project as I will be making my own company logos to
fit on it with sutlty. This in the end term left my experiment plain with just the title and the r3eason that the title is like
that is because I had some trouble using the blending option tool on photoshop, as it was not working how it should
have been working and the outer glow tools and inner shadow which I normally use with gravel on the title was not
adding to the text and I was able to make it bolder but in the end, the montage poster did not fit to the standard of
work I would like to improve on a poster and did not take long to make and I feel that with more time I would make a
poster much more suitable and appealing to the audience. I used the drag tool on photoshop to move the image
around to the correct position that would fit into the best structure on the poster. I originally took a separate image of
this specifically for this poster with much better quality but there was in fact a file corruption and in the end I had to go
onto the footage look for a part that suited it just as well although not as well ten I took a screen shot and added it to
this poster and that is why the quality is not as good as I would of liked for the poster and could use improvements..
This image is also when they are moving towards each other the original they was stood close looking at each other
ready to fight, I am not sure what works better they each have their own affect o the way the poster would look. If I
could go back and alter it I would make quick company logos to add at the bottom of the poster for effect as that is a
key thing that I am interested in when making my trailer and my favorite part of films which is the company logo a
when they show up and it plays some music that fits.
Tools
Drag tool - the reason I used this was to that I could move the image
around the page to where I needed it. This was efficient because it meant
that I could move the position of the images in the poster to a more
suitable location that fit the concept that I wanted.
Enlarge tool – the reason that I used this was to enlarge the image to fit
around the page fully and leave no spaces on the poster. This was
effective because it meant that I was able to miniaturize company logos
and enlarge the main image to fit the screen to organize it into a good
looking poster.
Blending options – for this I used inner and outer glow to put on an affect
to the title. This was effective because it meant that I was able to change
the look and style of the title to make it stand out more and look better
on the poster.
Text tool – so that I could type out what I needed and and add it to a
different layer so that it wasn’t apart of the image. This was affective
because it meant that I was able to add in the title text and move it where
I wanted it and edit it if I change my mind on the name.
5. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you include in your final product?
• I will include the idea of the different title sequences in between the movie trailers different clips that could fit in with the music. That I create for my final project. I think that I like the
idea of the trailer and how it fits into the programme, I enjoyed using the programme of adobe premiere to create my material as I think that its important that I know how to use the site
and then improve it. I like that I kept to the schedule on making the experiments and was able to add different things to it as I went along. Following the lessons that I got in the master
classes it made it much easier to complete the video montage that I had made and this is good because I was able to follow instructions that I was given on what to do to complete the
work very quickly and this helped because of the master classes that I took that showed me exactly how to set it up and I followed the examples and ideas that I had in panning to try and
create a possible fight scene however I do not think that it would be a good idea to include a fight scene in the final trailer as I do not believe that it worked in the experiments and I
would change it to something else probably more mysterious and not include any fight scenes as I do not think that they fit into the experiments in a good way and looked. In my final
project I am going to include the same set up that I used on the experiment montage because I feel that this is set up works well and that it fit the structure and format that I had learned
in master class this set up helped make it easy to drag different clips into certain folders and the arrange them into outdoor and indoor clips. After I had sorted this out I just had to drag
the specific clips that I wanted in the montage and add them to the timescale. I then cut each part of the clips with different part that did not need to be in it because it was not
necessary, to cut this I used the cut tool this made the the footage shorter and not to long. I like using this tool and I will be most certainly using it in my final project. I will be using
different ideas from this like on my project for my poster I do want to take ideas that I used on this poster because I want to add inspiration from different posters that are similar to the
poster ideas that I have and have made and I think that this could work very well in my poster because I would have evidence to go off from other posters to see how they advertise there
product and then how it appealed to their audience so this idea I used of taken inspiration from the there posters and forming them into one is a good idea and I feel like I can use them
in my final project and get a good audience appeal outcome. I have no doubt that when I have to open up photo shop to crate my poster for my final project I will capture an image for for
my poster and DVD cover separately and then add it into my poster and DVD cover the reason that I feel its best to take a picture for these separate is because it captures a separate
image specific to what I want to make and this will make the image better quality and look much more official but I will need to make sure that the photos that I take will fit the posters
and DVD covers perfectly in order to not stretch out the image making it look different from how it should because I think that it is important to make it out to be proper rather than
rushed and this is taking inspiration from the idea that I had intended for my experiment because I tried to take a picture that got a save file corruption on the camera and I was then un
able to complete it and put it across to the computer.
