Luke Curry created an e-magazine on ID fraud. He used various editing tools in Photoshop to create the front cover and double page spreads. For the front cover, he selected and masked the background behind the subject and used the magic wand tool to remove remaining bits. For the double page spreads, he used rectangles and text boxes to layout the article and review. He organized his images and final products into folders to keep them separated from his raw footage outtakes and drafts. In his final products, he successfully stuck close to his draft designs to create a polished e-magazine.
2. FRONT COVER ANALYSIS
This is the dominant image that is used on the front cover
of my E-magazine. Their was a lot of work put into this
picture to make it the way it was after editing the image. I
used the ’select and mask’ option. This tool is used to get
rid of the bits of an image that you don’t want. So what I
did was, I selected the background behind Alex in the
image and deleted them. There was another image I used
to get rid of the rest of little bits left. This was called the
“magic wand”. The magic wand helps as it lets you zoom in
on the image and get rid of little vital bits that need getting
rid of within the image. Then finally I did a “free transform”.
A free transform helps you resize and image. So I got the
chance to make it as big or as small as I wanted.
3. DOUBLE PAGE ANALYSIS- TWO PAGE ANALYSIS
This is the first page of my double page spread. This is the article side
of the double page spread. So all this is, is that you as the reader are
provided with a article about a 17 year old suffering from ID fraud. All I
did on this page was simple really. I just used the rectangle tool. I
created three long vertical rectangles so that the articles could go
there. Then I created two horizontal rectangles so that the Title and
subtitle could go in them boxes. I used the color red for the first
rectangle, so that the Title would stand out to the reader. Then as the
audience you can see that the four other rectangle boxes are a different
shade of grey. The color gray is used so the vibe is dull and sad. This
will create sympathy from the audience to the ID victim. With the
different shades of grey I used two different tools, which were opacity
and fill. These make the boxes start to fade a different colour. Then in
the bottom left corner I have used the “ellipse tool” to create a circular
shape then I wrote the number 3 to show what page number it was.
4. DOUBLE PAGE ANALYSIS- TWO PAGE ANALYSIS
This is the right side of the double page spread. Their was also a lot
of work put into this double page spread. I used the magic wand tool
to get rid of the little bits of white in the background. This was
difficult, as the white is very bare which means I needed to be very
careful incase I cut a bit of Alex’s head or shoulder out of the image. I
created a horizontal box on the top right side of the dominant image.
Then I created a text box inside of that rectangle box and wrote the
word “REVIEW” inside. This is their to show the audience that there is
a review from the teenagers perspective about his experience of ID
Fraud. The in the bottom left hand corner I have created another
rectangular box which say ”Alex Jenkins suffers as a victim of ID
Fraud. The I did the same as I did on page three and used the
“ellipse tool” and wrote the number 4 to show the page number
5. ORGANISATION
Within this project I believe that my organisation
has been up to my full potential. I created a
folder called “ID FRAUD” within this file contains
the final product of my ID Fraud E-magazine. As
well as images used in the front cover. I also
created a folder based on all the raw footage of
Alex which then helped me make a decision on
what images I wanted to use. This shows that I
have organised my images and my final products
in one file.
6. RAW FOOTAGE
• Here is a few images from my raw footage file. These
images are used to help me make a decision on what
I need to use in the final product. I took many
different pictures. These pictures were of different
camera angles and were taken in many different
areas. This was necessary to do as the images that
was taken the easier it was to help make a decision
on what images looked the best to use in my
product. I used the raw footage to my advantage this
is because I tried different techniques in Photoshop
to see what images would work best and which
images would not.
7. RAW FOOTAGE- OUTTAKES
Here is a couple of
images that were
taken as raw
footage. This is
some of the images
that I could have
used but,
unfortunately these
images; don’t really
work as well within
the final product.
8. DRAFTS
I started my drafts like this. I
believe that I stuck very close
and accurately to my drafts
within my final product. I had
several drafts. Some had
written and some computer
based. But I thin this was my
best option as in my opinion
this draft looks more like an
E-Magazine than any other
draft that I created did. I think
sticking to this draft
benefitted me the best as it
looks the best and it was the
easier out of the rest of them.
9. FINAL PRODUCTS
This is my final products,
both front cover and
double page spread. It
took a lot of work and
effort to make these final
products. In my opinion
these final products have
been very successful.
This is because as you
can see they look very
familiar to the draft. With
this being the case this
makes the final products
a huge success.
