1 Location: Giant Gold Mine Neighbor, Gadzema area, Chegutu
1.1 Size
The total size of the Giant Gold mine is 15 Hectares
1.2 Number of Claims
The total number of claims of gold is 15.
2 History of Mining Activity in the Area
Giant Gold Claims are positioned within a major mining district (Fig. 1) with remarkable gold
mines and as such the geology and historical gold production are of notable importance. The
immediate neighbors are also positioned on the continuation of the ore body and mineralized
trend intersected within the Giant Gold and these are;
Bay Horse mine is reported to be located at 17O
57’30”S and 29O
58’30”E and the geology
is characterized by quartz veins dipping 40O
-50O
N in greenstones. The average recovery
grade was 8.1g/t and cumulative mined gold was 1 935.48kg by 1984 (Bartholomew,
1990).
Blue Rock Mine lies within the old Stockdale farm in the Chegutu District, 6km north of
the town of Chegutu and 3km south of the Giant Mine. Geological positioning of the Blue
Rock Mine is located within the Gadzema greenstone belt near Chegutu, and the
Maiden JORC Resource at Blue Rock totals 8.5 million tonnes @ 1 g/t for 270,000 oz.,
using a cutoff grade of 0.6 g/t (ACR, 2010). Average recovery grade was 10.3g/t and
cumulative mined gold was 263.93kg by 1984.
Elvington Mine (18O
01’30”S; 30O
08’00”E): From these property and yielded a total of 11
098oz of gold. The New Found Out syndicate acquired the claims in 1922 and 5 026oz
of gold being recovered. a reported average recovery of 9.6g/t and 565.21kg mined by
1984(Bartholomew, 1990). In 2013 at the time of its closure, Elvington was producing
about 40kg to 50kg of gold per month. Elvington mine has 21 blocks of mining claims
covering a total area of 473 hectares with a monthly potential revenue of $2, 4 million
with a net profit of $800,000 per month if fully exploited and at least 390,000 tonnes at
3,4g per tonne of proven ore reserves.
Gotit Mine lies slightly north of the New Found Out mine and these claims were pegged
in 1906 on the northern extension of the New Found Out banded iron-stone.
New Found Out (18O
01’0”S; 30O
08’00”E) is located one and quarter miles north-west of
the Giant Mine. The gold produced was 655.85kg with an average recovery of 11.1g/t.

3 Location of the Claims
Giant gold claims are located in the Gadzema mining district, 11 km from the town of Chegutu
along the Chinhoyi Road. The 15 gold claims are exactly located 700m west of the Giant Gold
Mine.
4 Geology and Historical Gold Potential
Fig.02: Geological map of the Giant Gold Claims
Fig. 02 shows the surface geology covered by the 15 Giant gold Claims. Most of the target area
is covered by grey and brown soil with exception of a large outcrop of dolerite and small
outcrops of granite.
Giant Mine area has a highly faulted and fissured ore body striking NS – striking banded iron
formation with interbedded chloritic schist and sulphide rich layers up to 5mm thick and
mineralogy of ore body is pyrrhotite, pyrite, arsenopyrite and chalcopyrite in decreasing order of
abundance with 17 474.11kg of gold mined at an average recovery of 8.2g/t by 1984. Giant
Mine ore body was mined down to the 7 level (200 m from surface. The Giant resources in the
inferred category were interpreted to be 300 000oz with a grade of 2.2 and 4 400 000 at a cut
off of 1.0g/t.

5 Exploration Work Done
The exploration work done in The Giant gold Claims is mainly:
- Geophysics: Ground Magnetic survey and Induced Polarization Survey.
- Detailed geological mapping.
- Soil Geochemistry sampling (50mx100m Grid).
- Random Rock Sampling while doing soil sampling survey.
6 Geological mapping
Geology map (fig.02) did show any major outcrops or features; most of the area is covered by
brown and grey soil. The only outcrops existing within the claims are a large dolerite and small
granitic intrusions.
Soil Sampling
Soil Sampling was collected by local company geologist within a 50mx100m grid. The results
were very good. The good gold values in soil were ranging between 0.5 to 1.76 g/t as shown in
fig. 03. These high gold values in soil are considered as very good indications of the area gold
potential. The rocks underneath the soil cover will carry of course higher value of gold.
The quick interpretation of the results reveals 3 major areas (A, B and C) with good results.

Rock Sampling
Fig.04: Soil Sampling Results of the Giant Gold Claims
Only few rock samples were collected at the same time of soil sampling, the lack of outcrops
makes the rock sampling exercise not easy to achieve.
The rock samples were collected with different methods, some are rock channel samples and
other are rock chip samples. All the rocks were analyzed for gold and the results are extremely
encouraging ranging between 0.5 g/t. and up to 3.58 g/t.
Fig. 04 shows a nice correlation between the high gold value detected in Soil and the rock
samples collected with also high value.
The rocks samples results confirm the high gold value in Soil.

All of 03 areas with high gold values in Soil and Rock samples show high ground magnetic
anomalies.
8 Conclusion
Preliminary exploration results shows:
1- High gold value in Soil up to 1.76 g/t.
2- High gold value in Rocks up to 3.58 g/t
3- High ground magnetic anomalies in the same 3 area where soil and rock high value are.
