The Trevino Group, Inc., encourages “partnering” with their clients. In this way,
every component of the construction process is communicated and understood,
with a minimal chance for confusion or discord. Although the partnering
agreement is not contractual, it is an important component of the quality assurance

trust, understanding of expectations, implementation of construction of processes,
continuous improvement of those processes and timely communication and
responsiveness to everyone involved.
Commitment is essential by senior management and all project personnel. In this
way, management of the contractor and management of the Owner is involved in
maintaining the relationship.
The contractor, architect, engineer, and owner must establish grounds for mutual
trust. By sharing goals, expectations, strengths, and weaknesses, realistic
expectations are established and achieved. When issues arise, they must be
resolved as quickly as possible. This also builds a groundwork for lasting
relationships.
Additionally, the contractor must share these trusts, goals, and expectations with
all subcontractors and suppliers. In that way, projects will be consistently
delivered safely, quickly, cost-effectively, and in safe manner. Customer

Representations of War and Genocide
:
In 1000-1200 words, discuss the novel, Edwidge Danticat’s
Farming of the Bones
, represent genocide and massacre. Focus on why in history, The Parsley massacre is not called a genocide, rather a massacre.
Even though the parsley massacre was clearly an act of genocide, history calls it a massacre. Before discussing the novel, explain in your words the definitions of “massacre” and “genocide”?
This is the time you should refer to the documentary and discuss why does the author mention genocides in history as far back as the Armenian genocide but do not mention the Parsley massacre. What are the factors that might contribute to its absence in history? This is the first part of your essay.
The second part is to discuss testimonies of survivors of the genocide.
In many ways,
The Farming of Bones
is also a meditation on survival. Each character in the novel—Amabelle, Sebastien, Father Romain, Man Denise, Man Rapadou, just to name a few—have different methods of survival. Can you discuss these? Are there any characters in particular that have survived with a better quality of life than others? What does it mean to survive?
How does the novel differ from the documentaries in terms of survival testimony? Why do you think the author chose to write a historical fiction novel versus a non-fiction novel like I am Malala or Persepolis?

Epidemic, Endemic, and Pandemic Occurrence of Disease(s)
One aspect of epidemiology is the study of the epidemic, endemic, and pandemic occurrence of disease(s).
Some critics may argue diseases and conditions such as bird flu are endemic in many countries, and some may argue human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or AIDS is a series of epidemics.
Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research about the various epidemic, endemic, and pandemic occurrence of disease(s).
Based on your research and understanding, answer the following questions:
At what point does a disease become an epidemic, endemic, or pandemic? What are the parameters that define each of these states of a disease's effect?
Do you agree that bird flu, HIV, or AIDS could be described as a series of epidemics? Why or why not?
Should we study epidemiology and disease control as a complement to the provision of healthcare services? Why or why not?
Disease control has evolved since the discoveries and achievements of these epidemiological pioneers

Envisioning Leadership
Identifying a challenge that evokes your passion, understanding its historical and contemporary contexts, and bringing together the community of people needed to respond to this challenge—these are essential steps that make change possible. What kind of person is needed to lead such efforts? What characteristics make an effective leader?
Throughout your program of study, you have been encouraged to think about leadership. You have met, via video and audio podcasts, many inspiring and committed leaders in the early childhood field. This week, the Learning Resources have encouraged you to delve even deeper into the characteristics of leaders.
For this Discussion, without hesitation, jot down at least 10 characteristics that come to mind when you think of a leader. Put your list aside, and review this week's Learning Resources on leadership.
Now, think about the early childhood field and the various situations that call for leaders to interact and work effectively with families, colleagues, organizations, government agencies, etc. Consider the thinking and characteristics that stood out for you from the readings you just reviewed. Then, identify four characteristics you believe to be the most essential for leaders in the early childhood field today.

Remember, always establish clear criteria during your argumentation. You need a clear thesis to guide the essay and argumentative topic sentences to guide each paragraph. You are essentially discussing
how
an author creates the personality of a fictional character and how
that
character helps develop the meaning and significance of a work
, so make sure you assert your interpretation.
Do not summarize!
Consider that your audience has read the work
and
has
been exposed to the key literary
te
rms, so you do not need to define them.
Do not evaluate!
Avoid judging how well the author
writes or how good or bad the poem is

English 1C Critical Thinking Essay (6 - 6 12 pages, MLA 12pt font .docxLinaCovington707
English 1C: Critical Thinking Essay (6 - 6 1/2 pages, MLA 12pt font times new roman)
Due Date: (8/2/17)
Assignment: Consider one of the topics: I choose to propose my own topic. (received teacher's approval)
Requirements: Use 1-2 in class philosophical texts (I have them in the attachment) and 3-4 academic sources (requires research) to analyze, explore, and make connections to each other. Needs to have at least one quote in each body paragraph.
My proposed topic:
In class, my teacher he talks about a scenario where people from different cultures tend to have different views and values, but people who were raised in both cultures can have an internal conflict between their cultures, causing to choose one over the other, have a mix of both (as in a hybrid form of culture), or identify themselves to another culture that lies somewhere in between, or maybe even reject both cultures.
In Nietzsche's essay "On Truth and Lying in an Extra-Moral Sense", he says "for between two absolutely different spheres such as subject and object, there can be no expression, but as most an aesthetic stance, I mean an allusive transference, a stammering translation into a completely foreign medium. For this, however, in any case a freely fictionalizing and freely inventive middle sphere and middle faculty is necessary." In connection to people who have lived in two different cultures this inventive "middle ground” and “aesthetic stance” is essential for them to embrace their own set of values and beliefs.
For the research part of the essay, I wanted to explore people who have immigrated to another country from their own home country since a young age, for their development is heavily influenced by the struggles of living in multiple cultures. (I’m one of them myself). In sociology, Ruben Rumbaut was the first to coin the term “1.5 generation immigrant”, which means the people who have arrived in another country before their adolescence. Based on the age in which they immigrated, some of these immigrants might feel a stronger connection to a particular culture where some might feel they belong right in the middle, being unable to identify themselves to either of their ethnicities. (Just providing possible examples)
Optional (If there isn’t enough topics): Also for immigrants who might choose one culture over another. It can possibly relate to another philosophical text. In Plato’s “The Allegory of the Cave,” Aristotle argues that there are two mediums of knowledge that exists: the physical/sensory world(cave), where people(prisoners) are living happily in an illusion, and the intelligible world, where people can achieve a perfect form of knowledge through learning philosophy. For people, who have acquired the “perfect knowledge” of philosophy, when they go back to the sensory world, they will have a better and clearer perception of the world than those in the sensory world. They also have developed a responsibility of “quietly ruling” the people in the sensor.

success of The
Trevino Group, Inc.
The Trevino Group, Inc., encourages “partnering” with their
clients. In this way,
every component of the construction process is communicated
and understood,
with a minimal chance for confusion or discord. Although the
partnering
agreement is not contractual, it is an important component of
the quality assurance
process. The partnering process consists of key goals, for
example, commitment,
trust, understanding of expectations, implementation of
construction of processes,
continuous improvement of those processes and timely
communication and
responsiveness to everyone involved.
Commitment is essential by senior management and all project
4. personnel. In this
way, management of the contractor and management of the
Owner is involved in
maintaining the relationship.
The contractor, architect, engineer, and owner must establish
grounds for mutual
trust. By sharing goals, expectations, strengths, and
weaknesses, realistic
expectations are established and achieved. When issues arise,
they must be
resolved as quickly as possible. This also builds a groundwork
for lasting
relationships.
Additionally, the contractor must share these trusts, goals, and
expectations with
all subcontractors and suppliers. In that way, projects will be
consistently
delivered safely, quickly, cost-effectively, and in safe manner.
Customer
expectations are met, and everyone benefits from a quality
product. Successful
working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors will
5. ensure similar
performance on future projects, and result in long-standing

22. Quality Control & Quality Assurance
1.1 Description of Houston Strong Construction Quality Control
Program. Methods Used to Ensure Quality Control during
construction phase of a project.
The goal of our quality control program is to provide the Owner
with a finished project that is in conformance with the contract
documents, that is on time, and that is within the budget.
Quality control begins in the preconstruction phase and
continues through final close-out. Preconstruction meetings
will be held with all suppliers and subcontractors to verify their
scope of work and the project’s schedule. If any questions
arise, they will be directed to the design team for resolution.
During construction, we will have systems in place to review
shop drawings, inspect materials delivered to the site, inspect
workmanship of subcontractors, and ensure safety and infection
control is practiced in accordance with the Owner’s
expectations. Our goal is for zero defects and a minimal punch
list, and we are committed to providing you with a successful
project.
1.2 Description of how quality control team will measure the
quality of construction and commissioning performed by trade
Subcontractors as required by Owner Specifications and General
Conditions, and how we will address non-conforming work.
Houston Strong Construction works with the selected
subcontractors throughout the estimating process to make sure
that all HTHSCSA requirements for Testing and Commissioning
are included in their original estimations. The commissioning
agent will consult throughout the preconstruction and
construction process including but not limited to submittal
23. review, completed work inspection, pre functional and
functional testing and final commissioning. All subcontractors
that fail to perform work in accordance with the specifications
of UTHSCSA will be subject to the terms of the Houston Strong
Construction Master contract which includes correction of work
preformed, liquidated damages if applicable, and responsibility
to cover the cost to complete work by another subcontractor if
applicable.
Quality Control & Quality Assurance
1.3 Description of how Houston Strong Construction will
measure the quality of service provided to the owner for the
construction of the Galaxy II Webster Office Building.
Quality of service is measured through complete conformance to
the project plans and specifications, total satisfaction of the
Owner, minimal punch list activity, minimal warranty work, and
the ability to perform repeated projects for the Owner.
Additionally, Houston Strong Construction requests its clients
to complete a Customer Satisfaction Survey at the conclusion of
the project, and any opportunities for improvement listed on the
Surveys are reviewed, communicated and implemented.
In accordance with Houston Strong Construction Master
Contract, all subcontractors are required to provide the
appropriate warranty for their scope of work in the project.
At the conclusion of the project, the Warranty Manual provides
a contact list of individuals representing Houston Strong
Construction, as well as every supplier or subcontractor who
worked on the project.
Upon receipt of a warranty request from the Owner, Houston
Strong Construction notifies the responsible subcontractor.
Houston Strong Construction also notifies the subcontractor of
the timeline for completion of the warranty item. Follow -ups
are done with the Owner to ensure the work was corrected to
their satisfaction.
Prior to the expiration of the warranty, Houston Strong
Construction contacts the Owner to conduct a warranty walk
through ensuring that there are no outstanding warranty issues,
24. and that all warranty work identified at the walkthrough is
completed.
Quality Control & Quality Assurance
1.4 Quality Control (QC)
Project Manager (PM)
The Project Manager is responsible for the planning,
coordination and controlling of a project from beginning to end.
Also will meet the projects necessities and ensure that each
project is finished on time and meets quality standards.
· Shop Standards
· Production Inspections
· Factory Acceptance Testing
· Delivery Receipt Inspections
· Field Progress Inspections
· Materials Testing
Quality Manager (QM)
Quality Managers guarantee that the project creates a set of
deliverables, which achieve a specified level of qual ity as
agreed upon with the client. Quality Manager will work
diligently with architects and other consultants to provide an
updated issues list to document faulty work.
· Implementing Quality Control techniques to control the
quality of the deliverables essentially produced by the project.
· Identifying quality deviations and improvement actions for
implementation.
· Recording the level of quality achieved.
· Reporting the quality status to the Project Manager.
Quality Reviewer (QR)
The Quality Reviewer distinguishes the level of quality
associated with the deliverables created.
· Examining the quality of deliverables produced and
management processes undertaken.
· Exposing to the Quality Manager the level of quality achieved.
Identify Quality Targets
25. Quality targets should be measurable, meet product requests,
and decided by the client.

Site Specific Quality Control Process
Quality Control versus Quality Assurance
Quality Control draws from the materials and engineering
design classes (Methods & Materials Classes)
Quality Assurance documents those inspections – some sample
forms would be appropriate – perhaps included in a
supplementary section
Opening Statement: Construction and Testing shall confirm to
the contract documents. Respond to each one of the
requirements stated in those documents. “Good Practice” and
“Code Compliance” are the minimum standards.
File and Compaction:
1. How is the company going to monitor any fill/compaction
that is to be performed?
2. Is there any lime stabilization required?
26. 3. Subgrade Preparation?
Concrete Testing:
1. Sump Test – What are the requirements and how to
document?
2. Compression Cylinder Tests – Requirements and
Documentations
3. Who is going to be doing these tests?
What is the company going to do with a Concrete Truck where
the concrete fails the Sump Test? Details: Typically the
company should meet with the concrete supplier, outlining
requirements, obtaining pricing for the estimate and developing
a relationship with this very important vendor.
Obtain a “Design Mix” from the Concrete supplier for submittal
and approval by the Quality Assurance Manager.
Before ordering concrete, impress on the dispatcher the
importance of the concrete meeting the requirements of the
approved design mix, especially with regard to the sump. And
tell them in no uncertain terms that if the sump does not pass
within the acceptable range, the truck will be returned to the
batch plant.
For any trucks that fail, record the license plate number of the
truck and confirm it does not show back up at the site. The
company’s daily log must record the approximate location of
every truckload of concrete – perhaps marked-up on an extra
copy of the drawing. Most clients also require the company to
notify them of any such issues, which could lead to the black
balling of certain Concrete.
Lastly, in most jurisdictions the local government will require a
Municipal Inspector to inspect the reinforcing before the
concrete pour and then witness the actual pour. The important
point here is; know the rules and the laws that apply to the
27. specific location the company will be executing work.
Structural Steel
What test requirements are required for the steel work? Steel is
normally stamped with the specific specification, as defined
during detail engineering and it is important that construction
be aware of this specification and confirms the actual steel
received is in compliance with this requirement.
Piping
What test requirements might exist for piping and/or welding,
such as X-ray of welds?
Electrical/Instrumentation
Testing of systems before commissioning and start-up.
General
Will any other testing and quality assurance documentation be
required?
