Experience
2010 - present ProForte Engineering | Manager
In July 2010, I founded ProForte Engineering, an engineering consultancy
company, which continues to provide engineering services for BP Bulwer Is.
Refinery, Caltex Lytton Refinery and Origin Energy (CSG). I provide technical
process and environmental engineering support to junior employees as well as
managing the different projects across our three main clients.
Origin Energy CSG Production Operations
Process Engineer (November 2011 – Present)
This role provides engineering assurance for gas related process design, technical
support to Operations and Operations Engineering, as well as engineering
ownership of minor modification projects. The role also has a support element in
troubleshooting emergent process issues, and in providing guidance to less
experienced process engineers within the Engineering Team and the broader
Origin community. The role contributes significantly to goals for continuously safe
and environmentally compliant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Identify optimisation opportunities
Assist with risk assessments for gas related designs (HazOp, LOPA, etc)
Assist with management of C&E Matrix, P&IDs and other key process
deliverables
Identification and subsequent investigation of process safety related cases
Origin Energy CSG Production Operations
Process Engineer (March 2010 – November 2011)
Process engineering duties for assess and select phase as well as detailed design
of a variety of medium sized (< AUD3M) projects at the Origin Energy.
Key Projects:
Origin, CSG Well Micro-turbine Project, Sep 2010 – May 2011, QLD
Design of a CSG Well Micro-turbine testing facility to provide a safe and efficient
workplace to perform maintenance and troubleshooting of defectives micro
turbines. In addition to this the facility was designed to enable maintenance crew
to carry out pre-commissioning tests of micro-turbines before they are installed
on-site.
Work included development of project design basis, equipment sizing calculations,
development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, HAZOP, development of
equipment and instrumentation datasheets.

Origin, Oily Water Upgrade Projects, Sep 2010 – May 2011, QLD
Identify, design and implement solutions to capture, treat and remove
contaminants which pass down the open and closed drains prior to discharge to
Evaporation Ponds.
Work included development of project design basis, equipment sizing calculations,
blow-down calculations, development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams,
HAZOP, development of equipment and instrumentation datasheets.
Origin, Evaporation Pond Upgrade Projects, Sep 2010 – May 2011, QLD
The Pond Compliance Project was created to assess the level of compliance and
safety of the Denison Trough storage ponds against current license and legislative
requirements for Assessing Hazardous Dams.
Works included the development of a technical report used to decide the
dimensions and configuration of the storage units that will allow Origin to meet
DERM guidelines during the next ten-year period. The report was based on
extensive Water Balance Modelling using GoldSim software.
Caltex - Lytton Refinery National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER)
Scheme, Feb 2009 – Present
Development of National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting System (NGERS)
report.
Work includes assessment of the type of emissions required to be reported,
collection and verification of data and compiling report for submission.
Caltex - Lytton Refinery Environmental Reporting, Nov 2008 – Present
Development of the refinery environmental reports such as National Pollution
Inventory (NPI), SO2 and DERM Operational Limit reports.
Work includes assessment of the type of emissions required to be reported,
collection and verification of data and calculation of emissions.
2005 - 2010 R&MC Services | Process Engineer
Incitec Pivot, Selective Catalytic Reduction Project, Oct 2007 – May 2008
Design of a Selective Catalytic Reduction plant for the manufacture of an aqueous
urea solution (32.5%), which can be used to reduce emissions of oxides of
nitrogen from the exhaust of diesel vehicles. Plant included heat exchanger,
coalescer, storage tanks, pumping and loading facilities.
Work included development of project design basis and scopes of work, equipment
sizing calculations, development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, HAZOP,
development of equipment and instrumentation datasheets.
