2. Process
I found this tutorial on animating
mouths on YouTube. He has
produced a video to go through it
and released this image to show
his base shapes. And it seems
simple enough to try. This was a
tutorial for how they animated in
flash though, which was not
what I was using.
I have tried it with 2 different
words – Hello and Goodbye.
These are not too effective but I
think they do work to an extent
as the more that I watch them, I
can see the words come out of it
much more.
3. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
– I find that this tutorial may not have been the best
one for me, at least for now seems as it is very
difficult to draw with a mouse. Although, I feel I
could take aspects of this way. This is because it is
quite a simple way to show the mouth shapes and
they did a good explanation of how they create
them and how they seem to be able to produce
the transitions as well as static shapes.
4. Process
I discovered this chart to help
with lip syncing in animation
from a more straight on
approach.
For this trial, I used the word
bubblegum to see how well I
could make the animation fit.
Again, I also did transitions
between some positions and
although it did not have certain
sounds, I did my best to use the
most similar one.
5. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
– For this tutorial, I feel that it may be slightly more
complicated, but work just as well at the same time,
possibly more so for a wider range of creatures so this
may work quite well as a guide for the mouth shapes.
– This did leave out many more aspects that the
previous one I experimented with, but it still gives the
main 9 mouth positions which you can work with and
make a complete animation from.
6. Process
I have found a blog with this
animation technique on for walk
cycles, they give many different
tips on how to do a basic cycle as
well as how to vary it up for your
individual character.
I have made a simple outline of
the legs and then filled it slightly
to make it much more obvious
and I feel it looks like a very well
thought out walk animation.

• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
– I really like how the animation turned out as,
although simple, it is a very effective way to do it
and with some more transitions between the
shots, I feel could work slightly better to make it
smooth.
8. Process
I found the run cycle of a rabbit
while looking for an animals walk
cycle as I am planning to use
anthropomorphic animals in my
work and was thinking a rabbit
would be a nice creature to use. I
also then found some static
images including a rabbit standing
on it’s hind legs.
I used them to draw my own on
paper and then scanned them
into the computer so I could
digitally draw over it.
9. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
– I will likely use the base shapes and body type
shown to be from a rabbit to create my
characters. This is because I love the shape of
their bodies and would like them to be my
character’s species. This also fits in with the
aspect of having them be animals, and even
superheroes as I decided to add a cape to them.
