Bible Study on the Book of Acts 18:24-28, 19:1-7 on why the complete Gospel is so important. The outline for this study comes from the Life Way study on Acts.
5. Acts 18:24-26 (ESV)
A Partial Witness
24 Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of
Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent
man, competent in the Scriptures. 25 He had been
instructed in the way of the Lord. And being fervent
in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things
concerning Jesus, though he knew only the
baptism of John. 26 He began to speak boldly in
the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard
him, they took him aside and explained to him the
way of God more accurately.
6. Acts 18:27-28 (ESV)
A Complete Witness
27 And when he wished to cross to Achaia, the
brothers encouraged him and wrote to the
disciples to welcome him. When he arrived, he
greatly helped those who through grace had
believed, 28 for he powerfully refuted the Jews in
public, showing by the Scriptures that the Christ
was Jesus.
7. Acts 19:1-3
An Incomplete Faith
1 And it happened that while Apollos was at
Corinth, Paul passed through the inland country
and came to Ephesus. There he found some
disciples. 2 And he said to them, “Did you receive
the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said,
“No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy
Spirit.” 3 And he said, “Into what then were you
baptized?” They said, “Into John's baptism.”
8. Acts 19:4-7
An Incomplete Faith
4 And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism
of repentance, telling the people to believe in the
one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.” 5
On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of
the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his
hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and
they began speaking in tongues and prophesying.
7 There were about twelve men in all.

14. Romans Road to Salvation
• Romans 3:23 (ESV): For all have sinned and fall
short of the glory of God.
• Romans 6:23 (ESV): For the wages of death is
sin, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
• Romans 5:8 (ESV): But God shows His love for
us in while we were still sinners Christ died for
us.
15. Romans Road to Salvation
• Romans 10:9 (ESV): Because, if you confess
with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in
your heart that God raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved.
• Romans 5:1 (ESV): Therefore, since we have
been justified by faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ.
17. Matthew 4:1-4 (ESV) The Temptation of Jesus
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to
be tempted by the devil. 2 And after fasting forty days and
forty nights, he was hungry. 3 And the tempter came and
said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these
stones to become loaves of bread.” 4 But he answered, “It
is written,
“‘Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
18. Romans 1:20 (ESV) No excuses…
20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and
divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the
creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So
they are without excuse.
19. ~Matt Chandler
Hope evaporates in an environment that
knows everything that is wrong and knows
nothing of how to make it right.
