This presentation shows different aspects of inspiration, that will help me when deciding what clothing/ makeup/ hairstyles and props to use for my music magazine photoshoot.
2. CLOTHING
Clothing
is
used
in
rap
music
to
really
represent
how
the
musician
wants
to
come
across.
Artists
such
as
'Nicki
Minaj'
and
'Beyonce'
sometimes
show
a
lot
of
skin.
I
think
this
is
done
to
empower
other
women
and
to
show
that
you
should
be
happy
with
your
own
body.
Other
rappers
such
as
'Tinashe'
and
'Pia
Mia'
tend
to
wear
baggy
trousers
and
crop
tops.
This
emphasizes
their
true
hip
hop
roots.
However
they
can
look
glamourous
on
red
carpet
events
and
photo-‐‑shoots.
Some
other
artists
wear
a
lot
of
sporting
brands
such
as
‘Nike’
and
‘Adidas’.
This
is
a
large
part
of
urban
culture,
and
I
need
to
decide
whether
to
take
the
relaxed
or
glamourous
approach
when
picking
clothing
for
my
own
model.

4. MAKEUP
Makeup
is
a
very
important
aspect
of
a
photo-‐‑shoot
and
different
rap
artists
have
different
tastes.
Therefore
I
need
to
decide
what
look
I
want
to
go
for,
for
my
own
model.
Some
hip
hop
artists
go
for
really
bold
looks,
such
as
‘Beyonce’,
however
some
go
for
minimalistic
looks
like
‘Tinashe’.
‘Nicki
Minaj’
often
changes
her
makeup
look,
some
days
she
will
go
for
a
bright
red
lip
and
extravagant
eyeliner,
and
some
just
base
makeup
with
a
little
bit
of
gloss.
I
think
for
my
own
model,
I
want
her
to
be
not
too
caked,
but
want
the
makeup
to
connect
with
the
magazine
colour
theme.
5. HAIR
STYLE
Hairstyle
is
also
another
aspect
of
a
photo-‐‑shoot,
and
needs
to
be
perfect
on
the
day.
Many
female
rap
artists
have
long
hair,
therefore
I
will
make
sure
my
model
has
long
hair,
if
not
I
would
have
to
find
someone
else
or
buy
extensions
to
match
with
her
own
natural
hair.
6. PROPS
Props
are
also
used,
however
not
so
much
in
female
hip
hop
photo-‐‑shoots.
Photographers
tend
to
focus
on
their
beauty
rather
than
add
other
distracting
things
onto
the
image.
Therefore
I
have
decided
against
using
props
in
my
images,
some
examples
may
be
guns,
more
jewelry,
chairs,
crowns
etc.
