Characteristics
• Based on a dialup connection (wired)
• No user interaction
• A website made could not be changed

• Content could only be read
6. Tools and
Technologies
The resources and tools that were most likely used withWeb 1.0 in
my opinion are
Web Browser MOSAIC
Search and look for information
This is because web browsers gave users
an access to the entire world of information.
Chat rooms
I believe people used chatrooms as a means
for entertainment and serious business.
10. History
• Web 2.0 was first coined in 1999 by Darcy DiNucci but was
popularized in 2004 byTim O’Reilly and Dale Dougherty.
11. Key
Characteristics
• “It allows users to interact with each other in social media dialogue
as creators of user generated content.”
• “Changed the way web pages are designed and used.”
• Examples: social networking sites and social media
12. CommonUses
• Web 2.0 most common use was through websites using image,
text, video, and interactive advertisements.
• Industries or any person could pay to include something on a
website like an advertisement or video.

(Library 2.0, Gov. 2.0, Medicine 2.0)
• Also introduced blogs, podcast, tagging, and web content voting.
13. Tools and
Technologies

• Flickr- an image hosting and video hosting website to store and
share content.
• Napster- a peer to peer file sharing internet service that
emphasized digital audio files.
• Wikipedia- website that can be written and edited by any person.
Most Important Features:
• Web based advertisements and Social Media
• I believe that these were the most important because they
allowed industries and people to be able to share their content
across the internet with their values and goals. With Social media,
it changed the way people shared information and offered more
feedback for businesses and people.

it from virtually anywhere
• Web Semantics—The use of common data formats to link data
together on a massive scale.
• Open technologies—Data, software, and any other technologies
